Full Job Description

Are you passionate about improving the lives and outcomes of people with cancer? Do you want to ensure more people survive cancer than ever before? As Director of Delivery for the NHS Cancer Programme, that's exactly what you'll do., This post offers the chance to lead a high-performing and motivated team. It requires an exceptional leader to not just shape and drive the work of the team within NHS England, but to work closely with NHSE Regional Teams, Cancer Alliances, and Systems/Providers to collectively make progress against our ambitions. To support this, the post-holder will have a proven track record of both operational management and of delivering large-scale change programmes., NHS England hold a Sponsor Licence; this means that we may be able to sponsor you providing the Home Office requirements are met. To be eligible for sponsorship through the Skilled Worker route you'll usually need to be paid the 'standard' salary rate of at least £38,700 per year, or the 'going rate' for your job, whichever is higher. You can find more information on the Government website.

This is a high-profile role, with regular close working with Ministers, the NHS Executive, and other senior NHS colleagues. As well as strong leadership and implementation skills, the post-holder will also require a proven ability to communicate effectively and rapidly form positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

Cancer is one of the top priorities for NHSE, with a multi-year funding plan to invest in improving survival and quality of life for all those affected by cancer. You will be leading some of the core programmes underpinning our ambition to diagnose three in four cancers at an early stage, and to improve waiting times for the ever-increasing number of patients being referred in pursuit of that early diagnosis aim., The NHS England board have set out the top-level purpose for the new organisation to lead the NHS in England to deliver high-quality services for all, which will inform the detailed design work and we will achieve this purpose by:

  • Enabling local systems and providers to improve the health of their people and patients and reduce health inequalities.
  • Making the NHS a great place to work, where our people can make a difference and achieve their potential.
  • Working collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the right knowledge, skills, values and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care
  • Optimising the use of digital technology, research, and innovation
  • Delivering value for money.
