Full Job Description
We are looking to recruit leaders who want to understand and celebrate the diversity of our local patient and staff populations. We are currently looking for an experienced, resourceful and compassionate Director of Nursing to join us., The director of nursing will be a core member of the North Mid leadership team and will provide leadership to the associated nursing, midwifery and AHP workforce by shaping a culture of continuous improvement. The director of nursing is responsible for the standards of nursing care and care by allied health professionals and for the implementation of practice in line with the RFL group's objectives and the North Mid Patient First Strategy.
NorthMid delivers local services to its local population, including community services. It is planned that NorthMid will also hold responsibility, as a future health unit within the group, for the oversight and delivery of paediatric services across the RFL group. The director of nursing will have responsibility for leading the nursing, midwifery and AHP workforce in these areas as well as holding executive accountability at health unit level for quality, risk, patient safety, patient and staff experience, infection control and safeguarding.
The director of nursing will work strategically with the North Mid medicaldirector to enhance patient experience, quality of care and ensure patientsafety. Inadditionthe directorof nursingwillensureeffectivesystemsareinplacetomonitorandimproveclinical,operationalandfinancialperformanceof nursing and AHP teams and individuals. The post holder will lead the CQCagendaacross the North Mid.
The director of nursing shall promote and support the use of the Patient First Management System which is a Lean management system, an approach to managing an organisation that supports the concept of continuous improvement. Alongside this the post holder will support the design work of clinical practice groups and will lead the local interpretation and implementation ofclinical guidelines and managing to standard from a nursing and patientexperienceperspective.
This post reports to the North Mid chief executive officer, with a professional accountability to the Royal Free Group chief nursing officer following the proposed merger.

The North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust is a medium-sized acute and community trust with over 525 beds and over 600 community staff, serving more than 600,000 people living across Enfield and Haringey and the surrounding areas, including Barnet and Waltham Forest.
The hospital has been on its present site for over 100 years and was established as an NHS trust by statute in December 1990. The Trust's services are provided on the North Middlesex University Hospital site as well as a range of community sites across the London Borough of Enfield, including at partner hospitals. They provide services in collaboration with a range of partners, including local GPs, acute, mental health and other community health service providers across North Central London.
In the year ending 31 March 2024, the Trust reported a turnover of £505m and employed over 5,200 individual members of staff.
