Full Job Description

The post holder will have a leadership role, working closely with the Chief Medical Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, Director of Corporate Affairs, Deputy Medical Director, and Deputy Chief Nurses to create an environment which promotes and supports safety for our patients, staff and visitors; ensures we are providing right care for the right patients and that service users and their carers experience is captured understood and responded to. To ensure risk management, embedded throughout LNWH, is instrumental in reducing harm and by so doing positively influences the Trust's position as assessed by external agencies, for example, the Care Quality Commission (CQC), National Health Service England (NHSE), NHS Resolution (NHSR). Management of the Quality and Patient Safety team across LNWH encompassing, clinical effectiveness, clinical audit, risk and incident management, learning from patient deaths and quality assurance compliance. The post holder is overall accountable for all the services provided by the Quality and Patient Safety team. The post holder will ensure professional support and advice for governance staff based in Divisions. To be responsible to the Director of Corporate Affairs (Executive lead for risk) for the Risk Management Strategy and operational management of risk throughout LNWH. STRATEGY AND LEADERSHIP · Take a key role in shaping the on-going direction/strategy for quality governance, patient safety and clinical effectiveness and risk management in the Trust. · To be the Trust's nominated Patient Safety Specialist and incorporate the elements that are required for this nationally mandated role · Responsible and accountable for the development and delivery of a Trustwide strategy in line with the NHS England National Patient Safety Strategy incorporating the constituent elements of Learning from Patient Safety Events, the Patient Safety Syllabus, Patient Involvement in Patient Safety, and the Patient Safety Priorities · To provide leadership for the Quality and Patient Safety team and to be a key member of the Trust's Committees with a remit for quality governance. · Lead on the Quality Accounts content and submission. · To ensure the learning from risk management, incidents and quality improvement are fed back into the improvement cycle and processes of the Trust and that assurance is provided. · To attend as required the Board's Quality and Safety Committee, and the executive led Patient Safety Group, Clinical Effectiveness Group, and the Risk and Compliance Group to ensure that these are provided with regular and comprehensive reports sufficient to enable them to fulfil their monitoring and assurance responsibilities on all aspects of quality, risk management, effectiveness and patient safety
