Full Job Description

The Director of Sales is responsible for carrying out and leading the proactive sales efforts for the hotel. This role will require you to develop and execute strategic sales plans, yielding all available sales and revenue opportunities across a variety of avenues locally and nationally. The Director of Sales will execute the full proactive sales journey including identifying, securing, and maintaining revenue generating business. This role will have excellent contacts and a prosperous network across multiple industries and sectors. You will spearhead all proactive sales dialogue with potential clients and will efficiently and strategically secure business in line with annual sales targets and commercial strategies. The Director of Sales will be responsible for sales activity relating to all hotel revenue streams including rooms, food and beverage and MICE. You will be responsible to line manage the on-property Meeting and Events Sales team and will report directly into the Cluster General Manager with a dotted line to the onsite Hotel Manager. This role is based at the recently rebranded voco Manchester - City Centre, however travel to appointments etc will be required.   • Have a clear understanding of the hotels budget strategy and business mix.
  • Develop and deliver intelligent, strategic business plans aligned to the hotel strategy.
  • Set up and manage a defined list of corporate accounts to include prospecting new business, managing and maintaining existing accounts to grow revenue performance and increase market share.
  • Analyze historical and other statistical information (market segmentation, business diversity, current partnership deals) to penetrate your given market segment.
  • Conduct sales calls, interviews/presentations and ongoing account assessments to maximise revenue growth.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to design and execute sales campaigns, promotions, and packages.
  • Ensure accurate and thorough updates of all account information following meetings, correspondence, business trips and client entertainment.
  • To work closely with the revenue team to align rate plans and pricing for both corporate and group business
  • Attend and prepare information for the weekly strategy meetings
  • Analyse client specific data to build a deep understanding of the accounts, the opportunities that exist and to share key information with the hotel
  • Ensuring the defined accounts deliver both retention and growth revenue targets for identified market positioned hotels via direct relationships
  • Being an effective communication link between the hotel and all key stake holders, agents and other brand partners within Kew Green Hotels and IHG.
  • Driving key relationships with KAD/KAMs to achieve an uplift in RFPs participation through third parties and online platforms
  • Maintains direct relationship and communication with all key clients and certain strategically important clients to the hotel.
  • Entertaining executives, PAs and travel managers at existing and future potential companies to secure future revenue for the hotel including represent the hotel at trade shows, client visits and other client networking opportunities - travel maybe required.
  • Organisation and attendance of familiarisation trips and hotel site inspections for clients.

    To be considered for this role you'll have a demonstrable track record in Business Development and Account Management with ability to grow market share and account penetration as well as incrementally. You will be proactive and results-driven with ability to develop solution proposals that address customer issues and gain a competitive advantage. Highly motivated and collaborative to identify new business opportunities. Familiar with market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to stay ahead of the curve and drive innovation. Previous experience in leading and developing sales operations in a hotel environment is essential for this role.
