Full Job Description

In this role, you will have the customer experience at the forefront of decision making, with an ambition to innovate and continually push boundaries within audio storytelling, to create world class, industry leading content. You will lead the Studio Facilities, line managing the Studio Manager, Studio Support roles and Engineers, ensuring our studios continue to function at the highest level and provide the best on and off mic talent experience. You will lead, develop, and guide the Audible Production teams efforts within post-production, providing key insight into new tech and processes that can develop our creative approach to immersive listening experiences. You will champion Spectrum and Belonging, ensuring representation within our studios and post-production. ABOUT THE TEAM The Director, Production and Studios, sits within the Audible UK Production Team and within the wider EU Production and Content team. The Audible UK Production team produces unique and diverse content, ranging from single-voice audiobooks, through to highly complex, A-list talent lead full cast drama productions. Projects are briefed in to the Production team who then develop the creative approach, and deliver against the objectives and ambitions originally agreed at commissioning - through high quality production techniques, ambitious and broad casting, and an efficient and cost-effective production model. This position is a 14-month fixed-term contract. As Director, Production and Studios, you will….

  • Oversee the in-house Audible UK Studio facilities in Barbican, London, managing the Studios team to ensure the studios run effectively and provide a great talent experience as well as develop the studios further in response advancements in technology and business needs
  • Stay at the forefront of emerging audio technologies, run research and development projects that can be applied within future productions
  • Lead post-production efforts on specific projects, including scheduling, process and creative.
  • Own and communicate upcoming changes to operational standard work based on tech and product enhancements
  • Negotiate high-profile complex talent deals as well as support the team in negotiation of agreements with production talent at all levels and represent Audible's commercial interests
  • Use your influence and network to continue to source leading creative talent to collaborate and contribute to our content - both freelance staff (engineers, editors, sound designers) and best in class production and post houses
  • Manage relationships with key production partners across studios and post-production
  • Oversee file management and archiving across the Audible UK production team
  • Maintain Audible's external Production Pack and act as key point of contact for specification queries from production partners
  • Maintain regular open channels of communication with your peers and colleagues across the global organisation, ensuring visibility and alignment on strategy
  • Share skills, knowledge and expertise with the wider production team - lifting skills, productivity and ambition at all levels
  • Be accountable to internal stakeholders for tracking and managing delivery dates and budgets
  • Represent the team and its interests internally and externally to industry and press
  • Ensure representation is considered within Post at our London Hub and feed in to Spectrum and Belonging initiatives to ensure we are creating pathways to engagement on our projects for those from underrepresented communities
  • Lead on problem solving. Identifying issues and risks before they arise and directing focus on ensuring improvement are made, changes initiated and processes developed to support our continued success.

    Experience as a Production Manager / Post Production Manager in audio production
  • Experience in managing or coordinating multiple simultaneous projects
  • Experience in casting in a creative media environment, preferably including casting for voice
  • Experience managing content production processes
  • Experience leading a creative team within a corporate structure., Strong logistical, organisational and time-management skills
  • Able to work independently, proactively and meet deadlines
  • A passion for the spoken word medium
  • A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal skills
  • Ability to embrace ambiguity and work in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Dedicated team player who works collaboratively and supportively.
