Full Job Description

We are looking for an energetic passionate individual with senior operational management experience to join our Perinatal senior leadership team.

Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust is on an exciting journey of improvement and development to ensure that our services are focused on quality, safety and research driven. The Directorate General Manager role is part of the Perinatal Quad working alongside the Head of Midwifery, Clinical Director of Obstetrics and Clinical Director of Neonatal Services, to deliver the directorates strategic objectives, responsible for operational delivery, performance and development of services.

The Perinatal Directorate sits within the Women's & Child Health Clinical Group alongside the Acute & Community Pediatrics and Genecology, Genecology Oncology & Breast Directorates. You will work alongside two General Managers supported by the Group Director of Operations.

You should be able to demonstrate how you have worked collaboratively & successfully with clinical teams over a period of time. You should be passionate about improving care & up for a challenge., Reporting to the Group Director of Operations, the post holder will directly manage the Perinatal Directorate, and will have specific cross directorate responsibilities within the Group as delegated by the Group Director of Operations.

They will be responsible for ensuring operational safety, efficiency and effectiveness of services, effective clinical governance and risk management within the directorate, and budgetary and workforce management.

The post holder will be required to support the Group Director of Operations to implement service change and developments, deputise on matters relating to the Group and work effectively with clinical colleagues.

Make autonomous decisions regarding the operational management of services within the areas of responsibility, working closely and collaboratively with all stakeholders of the service.

Day to day responsibility for the operational management for specific services/departments within the Group.

To identify and implement on-going modernisation and new ways of working and innovation within specific services/departments.

To routinely monitor and track performance associated with national targets, and trust objectives, taking action where required to ensure targets are met.

To troubleshoot operational issues on a daily basis, that affect performance within areas of responsibility, liaising with relevant managers to identify and resolve as required.
