Full Job Description
Support the Senior Management Team of the SAS Division in the development of a compelling clinical strategy and service improvement initiatives within their service area. Lead the multi-disciplinary team within the service area to deliver on the entirety of the Trust's performance agenda including finance, activity, workforce and quality/safety, access and clinical governance. Work with the Matron and Clinical Director to ensure standards of patient care are met and the quality of the patient experience within the service area is high. Ensure effective leadership and line management arrangements are in place for all staff within the service area. Adhere to the standards laid down in the NHS Code of Conduct for Managers and at all times act in a manner that reflects and promotes the values of the Trust. Work closely with other colleagues within the service area to achieve improvements in the quality and efficiency of patient services., In accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and other supplementary legislation, all employees are required to follow Trust Health and Safety policies and safe working procedures, take reasonable care to avoid injury during the course of their work, and co-operate with the Trust and others in meeting statutory requirements. Infection Control All employees must comply with Prevention and Control of Infection polices and attend any related mandatory training. Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility The Trust attaches great importance to Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility. It is the responsibility of all members of staff to ensure that the Trust's resources are used efficiently with minimum wastage throughout their daily activities, 1. Ensure activity and workforce reporting for the service area is accurate, timely, effective and contributes to the SAS Division's financial profile. 2. Ensure service teams utilise available performance information to facilitate the monitoring of performance and identify opportunities for improvements, agreeing plans to improve service efficiency and quality. 3. Develop comprehensive business plans 4. Develop effective business case for any required developments as required 5. Facilitate regular communications with all members of the team to ensure all staff are aware of service issues and priorities so that they can input ideas and suggestions. 6. Develop effective partnerships within the SAS Division, with other Division's and corporate functions in order to deliver the Strategic and Operational priorities of the Trust. 7. Manage and monitor the financial position of the clinical area within the annual set budget. 8. Ensure effective communication and staff involvement mechanism are in place in the service area. 9. To participate in the Senior Manager on Call Rota within the organisation, The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Previous experience of leading a service, managing performance and delivering service improvements is essential, along with excellent communication and staff management skills.,
- GCSE Level 4 or above in English and Maths or equivalent
- Degree in relevant healthcare/management subject OR equivalent experience
- Substantial experience of managing performance targets
- Experience in day to day operational management
- Extensive budget management experience
- Ability to lead and motivate a large team of staff including senior clinicians. Desirable criteria
