We have an exciting opportunity for a committed and motivated Directorate Manager to cover Rheumatology, Dermatology and Sexual Health. We are looking for highly organised individual with a commitment to high quality patient care who have a passion to be part of these teams. You will be working in collaboration with management and clinical colleagues to deliver consistent high standards of care and the achievement of challenging quality and performance targets including key performance indicators, national targets and financial balance. You will have flexible and can-do approach, with an ability to build successful working relationships. The Dermatology service operates in partnership between The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and Walsall Healthcare Trust and provide operational management support, so travel between the trusts will be required. To discuss further please contact Henry Soulsby - Group Manager. To provide management support to the Group manager and, with them, develop, implement, and monitor arrangements and business plans. In conjunction with the Group Manager, support improved models of service delivery, workforce development, and business planning that reduce unnecessary waits and delays in the patient pathways. As delegated by the Group Manager, take a lead role in the management arrangements for the delivery of the key objectives In conjunction with the Group Manager, ensure that Business, Finance, Performance, Risk Management, and Governance are appropriately carried out within the Directorate, ensuring that all key targets are met. Main Duties & Responsibilities Provide business and operational management support to the Group Manager, Senior Matron and Clinical Directors

  • In conjunction with the Group Manager, develop business plans for the directorate
  • Identify opportunities for new markets and schemes to generate additional income
  • Develop appropriate strategies for inclusion in the business plan to take full advantage of these opportunities
  • In conjunction with the Group Manager, be responsible for the formulation and implementation of the long term strategic plans for the directorate
  • Work closely with the Group Manager to ensure that performance monitoring within the monitoring within the directorate is robust and that contractual targets and standards are achieved
  • Work with the corporate accountant to provide appropriate financial and activity information to the directorate, and support the Group Manager in managing the delegated budgets
  • Working closely with the Group Manager, ensure that quality standards, both agreed with commissioners and dictated by national policy, are achieved
  • Establish local quality standards to improve patient care and directorate efficiency
  • Identify and implement centralised functions across the directorate to generate cost and service efficiencies
  • Quality Assurance
  • Develop a directorate strategy to enhance quality standards in line with Trust objectives
  • Ensure that quality initiatives are co-ordinated, implemented, and reviewed
  • Deal with operational issues arising from governance reviews, and ensure action plans are implemented
  • Identify opportunities for change that will improve and assist the development of clinical practice, leading to improvements in quality or efficiency
  • Control and Information Systems
  • Manage a delegated budget to ensure and income and expenditure balance, as directed by the Group Manager
  • Independently produce monthly reports through interpretation and analysis of complex data from a variety of sources to the Directorate Management team with regard to income and expenditure, activity against plan, profiled trajectories, providing explanation as to variances, where necessary
  • Develop and produce the monthly performance report, key performance indicators, and other ad hoc reports, as required
  • Oversee and support integrated clinical work streams in the delivery of key targets in progress towards unified pathways and other identified objectives
  • Communications
  • Establish effective two-way communications, incorporating all staff within the directorate and the Trust. This may involve complex, sensitive information which involves reconciling conflicting views
  • Ensure appropriate communication processes are in place to cascade information within the directorate. Take corrective action as necessary
  • Assist in promoting the achievements and activities of the directorate internally and externally, and prepare marketing and public relations information, as required
  • Ensure Team Briefing is operating effectively within the directorate. Take corrective action, as necessary
  • Promote the achievements and activities of the directorate internally and externally, and liaise with the communications department
  • Direct Management and Monitoring
  • Oversee the management of the directorate team, including regular reviews of establishment, skills mix, and levels of delegated authority
  • Agree performance objectives for staff, and monitor progress
  • Be conversant with employment practices and policies, and be responsible for the recruitment of staff within the directorate
  • Develop and support training and education programmes to facilitate speciality development
  • Oversee the investigation of complains within the directorate, and ensure appropriate action is taken
  • Contract Management and Planning
  • Contribute to the development of the business plan for the directorate in line with the Trust's objectives fir the plan period
  • Lead on the centralised operational delivery of all local and national enhanced services and any other schemes or projects, as appropriate
  • Support the Group Manager in the preparation of business cases to support business/ contract opportunities and investment proposals
  • Ensure activity and quality targets are met
  • Identify and undertake risk assessments to the contract or business success of the directorate, and produce contingency plans and options appraisals, as required. Implement agreed plans, as necessary
  • Human Resources
  • Participate in workforce planning within the business planning process
  • Ensure a dull performance appraisal programme is implemented within the Directorate and that all employees have a personal development plan
  • Work within the framework of the Trust Human Resources strategy, policies and procedures, and facilitate compliance within the directorate

  • Other
  • Review systems and patient processes within the directorate, to ensure the continual improvement of services and flow of patients, particularly to ensure streamlined pathways, producing
