Full Job Description

Newcastle Upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated individual to join our fast paced in-patient pharmacy department as a late duty receptionist. We are a busy pharmacy department offering a diverse and complex range of functions and activities including; Dispensary, ward based and clinical activities, logistics, stores and procurement, clinical trials, aseptic preparation and medicines information. We have an automated robotic dispensing and stock supply system. As the role of the receptionist is primarily to attend to users of the service when they present at Pharmacy Reception and to answer the telephone, we are ideally looking for someone with a pleasant disposition who can communicate well, both face to face and over the telephone, with a wide range of people including, staff, colleagues, patients and visitors to the Department.

Please expand the job details section and read all of the information before applying for the vacancy., Key to the Receptionist's role is the organisation of work as it comes into the dispensary, ensuring prescriptions and orders enter the correct workflow stream allowing prioritisation of the workload. The Receptionist will also be responsible for the accurate input of discharge prescription information onto the prescription tracking system and for the filtering of prescriptions and orders into the correct workflow stream for dispensing by our team of dispensing assistants., This position is up to a maximum of 30hrs per week to cover our late duty reception, we are flexible on how the working week is covered but must include the core hours 16:00 - 19:00.

    If you have experience of working in a busy customer/client focused environment, can remain calm under pressure, have the ability to respond and adapt quickly to changing circumstances and are a good team player this role could be for you.
  • Whilst experience of working in a pharmacy environment would be advantageous it is not essential as full training will be given.
