Full Job Description

Nayland Surgery is looking to welcome a qualified dispenser into our busy practice, to play a full & active role within the practice multi-disciplinary team. The role is offered on a part-time basis, for a minimum of 30 hours per week, days & times to be discussed at interview. We are also recruiting for a dispenser to join the practice on a zero hours contract; please see job ref 7721 if this would be of interest.   • Process all relevant prescriptions & repeat prescriptions as authorised by GPs & prescribing nurses, in accordance with the good practice principles of the Dispensing Services Quality Scheme;
  • Ensure that all medicines & appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription & when there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, the dose or labelling instructions, check with the authorising or duty doctor or duty;
  • Collect all due prescription charges & ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in & signed by the patient;
  • Process hospital letters;
  • Process dossett boxes;
  • Manage ordering stock & stock control;
  • Preparation of monthly returns to the Prescription Pricing Bureau;
  • Answer & deal withdispensary phone enquiries;
  • Monitor patients exemption status;
  • Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication;
  • Any other duties to assist in the smooth day-to-day running of the dispensary & surgery as directed by the either the dispensary manager or practice manager.
