Location is Middlesborough with travel as and when required - our main offices are Blackburn. To enable us to fully deliver our projects we are looking for an innovative and passionate Design Engineer to work Client side on projects from initial concept and feasibility through to procurement specification, construction and commissioning. Our Role As an Design Engineer, you will act as an electrical designer for asset replacement and private customer projects. Liaising with our CAD resource you will produce design drawings and work closely with Project Managers, Construction Engineers and Design Engineers \ Managers to ensure that all projects achieve the programme objectives of time, cost and quality at each key milestone stage, to meet requirements of the agreed programme.
- Develop and implement electrical designs that deliver cost-effective solutions for major electricity projects
- Be responsible for the project design to ensure they are developed in an appropriate and consistent format
- Manage 3rd party contractors during the whole life of projects requiring liaison with project managers, design, construction and project control sections
- Provide accurate information for the range of projects under their control What We're looking for Ideally, we are looking to recruit a candidate who has specialist knowledge in either one or more of the following areas:-
- Primary substation level Electrical Plant Design (HV Vacuum Switchgear , Power Transformers up to 33kV)
- Protection and Control scheme design and integration.
- 11kV Primary level substation layout design
- Earthing Design
- SCADA integration
- Network protection and Modelling of networks including G99 applications/submissions.
- To act as the Design Engineer for all major projects, managing all aspects of design (from outline to detail) during the project life cycle - design, planning, approval, construction, commissioning and final handover.
- Working closely with the Project Manager, Protection & Control Engineers (and Construction Engineers) and Design Manager to ensure that all HV & EHV projects achieve the programme objectives of time, cost and quality, at each key milestone stage, to meet requirements of the agreed programme. Outputs reported from the programme form Key Performance Indicators to the Company's regulators.
- To ensure business processes and systems are aligned to obtain maximum performance, and that all projects / are managed on appropriate Company systems.
- Must establish and maintain a flexible and adaptable approach to change, being able to respond rapidly and develop creative solutions.
- Provide a Technical expert service to the tendering and Bid process of the business and the project delivery team.
