Full Job Description

You will assist with the implementation of the Governance strategy in order to improve the quality of services and clinical care within the Trust.

The role is pivotal in building relationships at all levels and linking the Central Clinical Governance Department with the Division. Therefore, you will be expected to provide expert operational advice, training and leadership to all levels of the organisation on risk management and compliance, including clinical risk and use of the risk register.

You will be involved in identifying and investigating Serious Incidents, and co-ordinating the submission of quality information for internal and external scrutiny, to then produce, analyse and present high quality written reports.

This is a hands-on role and we are looking for someone with significant knowledge, skills and experience relating to the job description and person specification, so if you think you are a suitable candidate, then come join our team., Working closely with resources at a Divisional level to provide support, facilitation and guidance for Clinical Governance Activities, that are in line with the strategic view and intent of Oxford University Hospitals NHS trust. This role encompasses risk management, clinical audit and clinical effectiveness programmes. The appointee will also work in the area of staff involvement, staff and clinician engagement in key Clinical Governance processes and programs, relationship building within the division and education & training (in relation to clinical governance, risk, patient safety, clinical audit, and continuous quality improvement)., Working within the Division with the Divisional resources the appointee will assist the divisional to develop robust systems and processes in relation to clinical governance and quality. The appointee will develop and maintain relationships inter-divisionally, and with the central clinical governance team to ensure that incidents are investigated in accordance with the relevant Trust policy. The appointee will co-ordinate investigations, write investigation reports, and support colleagues within the Division to drive the clinical governance agenda locally. The appointee will have a key role in relation to ensuring that actions arising from incident investigation are completed within the Division and that learning is shared across the organisation where appropriate., 1. Co-ordinate the implementation of a Divisional clinical governance programme linked to the Trust's overall agenda.
2. Assemble and analyse quantitative and qualitative information (with divisional and directorate leads) in ways that assist staff in reflecting, and improving on service delivery and practice.
3. In liaison with Divisional Resources (Divisional Nurse, Divisional Clinical Governance Lead, Clinical Director, General Manager, and Divisional Director) assist with the compilation of relevant Divisional reports to assist with monitoring and enhancing its approach to the management of clinical quality& clinical safety and to enable the Division to provide appropriate assurance to the Trust in relation to clinical quality (through monthly reports to the relevant Clinical, Governance, and Quality Committees.
4. Facilitate the downward dissemination of decisions and discussions at Governance and Quality Committees and provide clarity regarding how they may relate to the individual division, and develop associated programs to address and monitor the impact of the change.
5. In liaison with Divisional and Corporate Resources assist in the building and development of information resources pertinent to clinical governance as a resource for the Division to develop improvement programs to drive improved patient outcomes.
6. Facilitate and support divisional resources to Co-ordinate, and report against the activities of divisional quality and clinical governance groups
7. Assist the Divisional Resources (Divisional Nurse, Divisional Clinical Governance Lead, Clinical Director, General Manager, and Divisional Director) to exercise his / her responsibility for risk management across the Division.
8. Support the implementation of the Trust Incident reporting system within the Division, providing support in the investigation of incidents where appropriate.
9. Co-ordinate and support the management of Serious Incidents Requiring Investigation (SIRI) within the Division in association with the divisional resources and the corporate clinical governance team.
10. Participate in management of an effective and appropriate divisional risk register in liaison with divisional resources for clinical governance.
11. Provide support to the Division to ensure that external inspections, have appropriate action plans and that corrective actions have been completed with an associated follow up audit planned (as required).
12. Work alongside clinical audit and clinical governance leads within directorates and services to develop and implement audit and improvement programmes that supports the needs of the organisation.
13. Work in consultation with divisional clinical leads to develop appropriate outcome measures, that are monitored and reported on an ongoing basis in order to assess and develop the quality of services provided.
14. Identify training needs within the Division (based, for example, on the analysis of incidents or the reports of relevant national audits) and work with the Trust's Clinical Governance trainer and divisional colleagues to ensure that these needs are met.
15. Undertake and provide clinical governance training sessions in the Division, and where indicated across the organisation.
