Full Job Description

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has an opportunity for a dynamic individual to lead one of our innovative divisions as a Divisional Director. The Divisional Director for CSS is accountable to the Chief Operating Officer for the overall performance of the division and as a key member of the Trust's Management Team will be expected to contribute to the development and implementation of the Trust's long-term strategy and business plans. This is a key strategic and operational role leading the division and the post holder will provide visible leadership to all staff within the division and ensure the delivery of agreed objectives and plans across all the division's activities with the aim of securing patient focused, modern, effective and efficient services, both across the Trust and within the wider local health economy. The appointed candidate will be required to participate in the Executive Director On-call Rota. This role attracts either a VSM or Consultant Salary, dependant on staff group., The Divisional Director will be responsible for delivering excellent performance against key quality standards and targets and for taking corrective action when required. The key performance areas include but are not limited to:

  • Service delivery and quality standards set out in National Guidance and local service contracts.
  • Delivery of contract activity and patient access standards; including 18 weeks,4 hour and Cancer.
  • Financial performance targets, delivering the required income and expenditure plan.
  • Continuous monitoring of the performance of senior staff within the Division, ensuring the delivery of set objectives and targets and taking appropriate action through development and/or performance management to secure the achievement of optimum performance and clinical quality.
  • Ensuring governance is embedded within the Division and all staff understand their responsibility for service quality and patient safety and that mechanisms are in place to monitor patient safety and measure clinical outcomes.
  • The development and implementation of the Division's business plan and core objectives, ensuring the plans contribute to the delivery of the Trust's primary objectives.
  • Ensuring that national objectives are met within the Division, in particular those relating to clinical standards and performance objectives set out in the NHS Operating Framework.
