Domestic Healthcare Cleaner

As a Healthcare Cleaner within our established Team, you will be responsible for:

• Delivery of high standards of cleaning (National Cleaning Standards 2007).


• Provide good customer care.


• Ensure Infection Control Guidelines are followed.


• Empty waste bins and refuse containers (according to Waste Disposal Policy).


• Replenish hand towels, toilet paper, soap, kitchen roll.


• Vacuum, dust control, mop all floors.


• Damp mop, machine scrubbing, and carpet shampooing.


• Damp dusting fixtures, fittings, ledges, pipes, tiles, glass partition, walls, doors, internal windows and blinds.


• Cleaning of all sanitary areas.


• High dusting all ledges.


• Changing bed / screen curtains.


• Cleaning interior cupboards.


• Dealing with spillages such as floods and bodily fluids.


• Working to a work schedule.


• To work cooperatively with colleagues.


• Clean and maintain all Domestic equipment.


• Ensure that you are in compliance with company's policies and procedures.


• Demonstrate customer care and have a confident but courteous approach when dealing with patients, visitors, staff and colleagues.


• Ability to work as part of a team but on own initiative.


• Ability to remain calm when required to work under pressure.


• Must be confident and flexible in all situations.


• At all times maintain a professional appearance.


• Ability to demonstrate empathy when dealing with stressful situations


• Physically fit and active.


In addition to the duties above you may be required to undertake additional duties as and when necessary to meet the needs of the business., This job description outlines the duties as currently required but may be amended by mutual agreement to reflect future developments in the service and the impact of new technology on the role.

Appropriate training will be provided to support essential additional skills required.

The post holder is subject to performance appraisal and the development of a Personal Development Plan.


• No formal qualifications are necessary but the post holder must have numeracy and literacy skills.
