Full Job Description

I am a 59 yar old man living in Baglan with my three large but friendly dogs. I am chatty and friendly with a big personality. I have osteoarthritis in my spine, which can affect my mobility, but regular moving and exercise helps with this. I also have a brain injury due to an accident, which can affect my memory. I am very outdoorsy and enjoy walking my three dogs, gardening and doing DIY around the home. I have my own workshop at home where I do woodturning. I also like going out for coffee and other activities.

I am looking for a PA to support by prompting me on tasks around the home, support me with my gardening, DIY and woodturning. The PA would support me when out walking the dogs. The PA will be required to drive my mobility car so I can access the community and go for coffee. The PA will promote my independence and doing things with me, not for me.

Purpose
Prompt and motivate me to tidy up my workshop and with other tasks around the home.
Walk my three dogs with me.
Help me plan and prepare for activities and shopping.
Drive my mobility car to access the community, and in getting out and about to do the things I enjoy.
Support me with gardening, DIY and my woodturning.
Plait my hair in a French braid as I have a long ponytail.
Prompt me to take my medication.
Load/ unload the washing machine if I am having a bad day and not able to bend. PA is not required to hang out/ iron any laundry.
Promote my independence by doing with me, not for me.

Must be a dog lover and confident around large (friendly) dogs.

Enjoys walking and is generally outdoorsy.
Has a good sense of humour and enjoys a chat.

Someone who is willing to learn about my brain injury and how it affects me.
Someone who will encourage and motivate me.
Driving Licence is essential and is willing to drive my Motability car.
Health and Safety conscious whilst assisting me with woodturning and DIY.
Is willing to learn how to do French braids as I have a long ponytail.
Hours
6 hours a week to be used as 3 x 2 hour blocks on a Mon, Wed and Fri.

Times are flexible.

This post may require a DBS check (the cost of which will be met by NPTCBC). If this post requires you to work with children then it is compulsory for you to have a DBS check prior to commencement.

If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.

Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly or monthly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.

You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.

You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
