Full Job Description

I am very lively, bubbly, fun and energetic 6 year old boy living in Skewen. I have Autism and Epilepsy. I can experience Challenging Behaviour which includes running off, as I have no sense of danger. The PA will need to undergo Physical Restraint training, which will be provided.

I am a very loving and affectionate little boy and I love to hold hands. I have very little speech, but I am able to tell you what I want by pointing and leading you.

I enjoy watching cartoons, going trampolining and I love going in the car wash. I am looking for a PA to support me in going out to places I enjoy, such as a locked park, Indoor play areas, going for walks, and to the Splash Park down Aberavon beach front when the weather is nice.

The PA will need to support me with toileting and continence aid changes.

The PA will need to be confident, calm and consistent in their approach, as well as vigilant as I have no safety awareness.

Purpose
Support me to go my favourite locked park in Aberdulais.
Support me to go to Indoor Play Areas or to places such as Aberavon Splash Park.
Support me to go for a walk.
Support me to do other activities I enjoy.
Support me with toileting and continence aid changes.
Keeping me safe at all times as I have no danger awareness, including road safety.
Person Type
A person who

Is willing to undergo training for Epilepsy, Autism and Physical Restraint.
Is able to physically chase after me if needed.
Car driver essential.
Is calm and consistent in their approach.
Is vigilant as I have no safety awareness.
Is patient but firm.
Experience of Autism preferred.
Hours
4 hours during term time to be worked on a Sat/ Sun after 10am

8 hours during school holidays - days and times flexible, This post may require a DBS check (the cost of which will be met by NPTCBC). If this post requires you to work with children then it is compulsory for you to have a DBS check prior to commencement.

If requested by the employer, two satisfactory references must be provided. This post is subject to a trial period of 1 month and a probationary period of up to 6 months.

Wages will be paid on a 4 weekly or monthly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK and your employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.

You will receive the appropriate annual leave entitlement as well as all other statutory entitlements, details of which will be set out in your contract of employment. You will also be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook when your employment commences.

You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training identified as relevant to this post. The cost of mandatory training will be met through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
