Full Job Description

The Band 5 Registered Practitioner requires a broad knowledge and skill base including communication and team working skills, in order that they contribute to the smooth running of the DTU. The Band 5 Registered Practitioner will actively seek out learning opportunities for both self and others, providing support and assessment to junior members of the team and other learners. The Band 5 DTU Practitioner will work in each speciality/area in order to gain experience and to develop the necessary skills to participate effectively in the service as required. As with all other members of staff the Band 5 DTU Practitioner must perform within their scope of practice and not exceed the boundaries of competence. They will remain accountable for their actions and omissions. In the absence of senior staff, the Band 5 DTU Practitioner will oversee the running of the department, whilst promoting a positive standard of healthcare to patients, relatives, carers and staff. The Registered Practitioner will supervise juniors/learners, support them and offer feedback on performance as necessary.

You must be a qualified RN/RODP and ideally have experience within this area. All short listed applicants require professional registration and any overseas applicants working towards this, must apply via the NWAFT overseas programme, where OSCE is supported. Please do not apply direct, if you are an overseas applicant, without professional registration. You will be a registered RN/ODP practitioner and will be expected to work within the whole of the Day Treatment environment, including admissions, minor scrub and discharge. Experience of scrub is preferred but a willingness to learn the skills required would be considered, training can be given within the work environment. You should be able to provide evidence of ongoing professional development, be able to prioritise your own workload and be able to work effectively within a multi disciplinary team. You should be innovative and dynamic with excellent communication skills, and possess the ability to put quality patient care at the forefront of your practice.
