Full Job Description

Staff at The Rissington School work with all children with a variety of needs. This might be through supporting the teacher or Lead Practitioner to deliver learning opportunities, input or experiences; supporting children with their individual needs; or working with a group of children. Early Years practitioners and Teaching Assistants have regular contact with parents, so a professional demeanour and confidence to speak to a child's parent or carer is an essential skill for the successful candidate to demonstrate.

Leaders of The Rissington School are seeking to appoint an experienced Early Years Practitioner to join our Pre-School team. Experience of supporting children effectively in an early years setting is essential to this role, as is the ability to be patient, flexible, assertive, positive and compassionate. Also essential to this role is the ability to support children's social, emotional and mental health needs.

We are looking for a professional with good interpersonal skills, who loves working with and can relate to children, is organised and adaptable. The successful candidate should be a good team player as well as take on ideas and attend training as required. Our children very much enjoy learning and playing using both the inside and outside environments.

Currently, this post is for 8:45 - 3:15pm, Monday-Friday with a 30-minute lunch break each day. These specific hours and days are subject to change depending on the needs of the school.

Pre-school staff support the children during their lunchtime play, which is paid at a Grade 2 for 1-hour per day. Therefore 5-hours per week are paid at Grade 2, with 25-hours per week being paid at Grade 3. This equates to a 30-hours per week contract.

There is the possibility that this contract may be extended beyond the end of this academic year depending on the needs of the children. Additional hours may also be available to support in our wraparound care provision on a supply basis if this is of interest to the successful candidate and is needed by the school.
