Job Overview As a Research, Data and Information officer you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of data for the Early Years service as well as using this data for reporting and analysis. You will ensure data is relevant, accurate and stored meeting GDPR requirements as well as Birmingham City Council policies. You will use data to build reporting solutions for different stakeholders and ensure the reports meet the users needs. You will use your skills as a data expert to scrutinise data and information and to help find innovative ways to drive the service forward. What we are about
The Data and Information Team within the Early Years and Childcare Service is responsible for providing accurate and relevant information to Early Years Settings, families and the wider public regarding opportunities available to the sector, support available to families and targeted information on Early Years care. We also manage the Early Years and Childcare Service data and reporting systems and look to provide statistics that will underpin the way that we work and to help answer the big questions put to us on how our service is performing and how we plan to drive forward to meet future challenges. What you will do

  • Support the delivery of the Early Years, Childcare and Children's Centre service data plan, developing and maintaining a suite of associated system reports for users across the early years' service and dependant services such as Contact Centre.

  • Analyse data from multiple systems to produce reports for performance scorecards and dashboards, annual sufficiency assessments and to support the work of the Early Years Networks.

  • Analyse data to support responses to statutory requests, such as Freedom of Information Requests, Serious Case/Domestic Homicide Review scoping requests and others.

  • Liaise with Service Birmingham and Directorate ICT around upgrades and system bugs, including raising calls and conducting User Acceptance Testing for all system upgrades and fixes.

  • Define and review the links and data flows between EY systems, including liaison with business colleagues and ICT contractor partners to ensure these are effectively managed and understood.

  • Use programming language to extract and manipulate data for use in visualisation tools.

    Working within the Early Years and Childcare Service, you will play a vital role in delivering the Council's Statutory duties to provide professional support services to all early years and childcare providers to meet the Local Authority statutory duties in respect of childcare sufficiency for children aged 0 -14 (16 for children with SEND) and early education for 2, 3 and 4 year olds.
