Full Job Description

You will provide specialist psychological assessments of patients referred to the team based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources.
This role will include making skilled evaluations to formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a patient's mental health problems, based upon appropriate conceptual framework of the patient's problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy.
Implementing a range of highly specialist psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families, and groups, adjusting/refining psychological formulations, informed by different exploratory models, and maintaining a number of hypotheses.
You will evaluate/make decisions about treatment options considering both theoretical/therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individuals, family or group.
This role will also exercise professional responsibility for the assessment and treatment of patients whose problems are managed by psychologically-based care plans, including communication with the referral agent /others involved in care.
Providing supervision of more junior members of the team ,in particular psychologists, therapists and assistant psychologists and trainees, you will also take part in service development and associated audit and research, The Adult Community Eating Disorder team is a multi-disciplinary team comprised of Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) Therapists, Psychiatrists, Nurses, Dietitians, Social Worker, Assistant Psychologists, Community Support Workers and team Administrators.
The service provides an integrated formulation-based model tailored to the needs of adults with a primary diagnosis of an eating disorder as well as those with comorbid mental health problems and their carers.
The service offers excellent opportunities for supervision, service development, service evaluation and research, teaching and training including CBT-e (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy). We have good supervision and operational structures and an excellent track record of CPD (Clinical and Professional Development), as well as good links with Oxford University, particularly with the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology. The service is also committed to evidence-based and evidence generating practice and you will have the opportunity to be part of service evaluation and Quality Improvement.
The post is based at the Warneford Hospital, Oxford but we provide a service across the whole of Oxfordshire. We offer a range of evidence-based treatments for eating disorders, such as CBT-ED, MANTRA, CBT-T, guided self-help for Binge eating disorder and Bulimia, SSCM (Specialist Supportive Clinical Management) and deliver these within the community.
Applicants must have a full valid driving licence and access to a car for work, if necessary, adjustments can be considered in line with the Equality Act 2010. The service operates 5 days per week Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.

We are moving towards the development of treatment pathways for all presentations of eating disorders. We have good working relationships with colleagues in the Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders Services as well as other Adult Community Eating Disorder services across the Thames Valley region.
The successful applicant will have extensive experience in working with eating disorder patients in addition to excellent interpersonal and leadership skills which will enable them to thrive within a multi-disciplinary team context and in working with this complex patient group and their families.
