Full Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineer to join our growing Engineering capability. The successful candidate will play a key role in our organisation, collaborating closely with clients and stakeholders. They will be responsible for scoping, estimating, managing, and delivering projects. They will address and resolve Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineering issues within a multi-discipline project using their technical capabilities and engineering judgement, applying their skills, or generating innovative solutions as appropriate whilst simultaneously interacting and collaborating with our engineers from other disciplines and offices to deliver projects on time and to budget. Projects will vary in scale and complexity. You will be engaged across the complete project delivery lifecycle from initial project definition and FEED studies to detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover to operations. This position will require regular attendance in our Winnersh (Reading) office with frequent client site visits to develop stakeholder requirements and build critical relationships for success.   • You will liaise with clients and project team members to develop and substantiate the design of electrical systems and instrumentation as part of wider integrated engineering solutions to deliver added value for our clients;
  • You will be involved throughout the engineering lifecycle generating high quality technical documentation, for example power distribution, panel / motor / cable sizing, layouts and supporting calculations, specifications, datasheets and technical reports;
  • You will design, configure, implement, verify and validate PLC and SCADA systems;
  • You will perform fault analysis and reliability assessments using recognised techniques including FMEA, FTA, HAZID and HAZOP;
  • You will ensure that engineering solutions meet functional, performance and safety requirements including being actively involved in verification activities;
  • You will support software, control and instrumentation and system safety engineers in the development, verification and validation of code migration and dynamic model / simulation environments;
  • You will undertake SIL assessments in accordance with EN 61508;
  • You will perform site surveys of plant and equipment and document the results.
  • A degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or demonstrable equivalent underpinning knowledge and understanding and discipline relevant professional experience;
  • Attained or working towards Chartered Engineer status with an appropriate professional institution

    Experience in an electrical, control or instrumentation design role generating engineering solutions and verification of compliance with a specification through analysis, testing or commissioning; familiar with engineering design substantiation;
  • Good all-round technical design experience using British and international standards and Eurocodes;
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage your own time and workload to deliver against agreed milestones;
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member within a multidisciplinary team liaising directly with team members and clients;
  • Good verbal and written communication and technical writing skills;
  • Ability to achieve a minimum of SC clearance.
