Full Job Description

We are renewing our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and have formed a new Office for Institutional Equity and Inclusion (OIEI), which plays a critical role in helping us to prioritise staff and student development, engagement, accreditation, monitoring and integrated practice improvement needs. Led by the Assistant Vice-President (EDI) who reports to the President, and the Head of EDI, the Office for Institutional Equity and Inclusion is a single University-wide unit actively and passionately transforming our organisational culture and supporting the progression and success of our staff and students. This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring we deliver our EDI ambitions and enable the pursuit of excellence in all that we do. This role will form part of the Office for Institutional Equity and Inclusion and is essential to enable the University to drive the change needed to embed race and gender equity. The role holder will help create positive, tangible culture change and raise awareness of race and gender equity for staff and students and ensure an intersectional approach is applied in all aspects of work. Responsibilities include

  • To lead and raise the profile of institutional-level race and gender equity activity and ensure intersectionality is considered in all aspects of EDI initiatives.
  • To lead the development and implementation of the race and gender equity action plans and support with implementation of the actions.
  • To lead on the prioritisation and delivery of City St George's Vision and Strategy 2030 and focusing on minimising differential outcomes in student satisfaction, progression, attainment, and employability., The selection process will involve an interview and an exercise/presentation.     An undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject and/or demonstrable experience in a comparable setting
  • Experience of working in the equality, diversity and inclusion field with a particular focus on race equality in Higher Education or other large, complex organisation
  • Experience of successfully delivering a Charter Mark or similar accreditation (e.g., Race Equality Charter, Athena SWAN, Stonewall or Investors in People (IIP) resulting in successful award)
