Full Job Description

You will work under the direction of our Lead Education Advisor (Extended Duties), but will have a proactive and independent approach to your work. Your work will largely be providing advice and guidance and delivering training regarding children who are not looked after (cared for), but have a social worker, or were previously looked after and now are under a Special Guardianship Order, or who have been Adopted, or children in formal Kinship Care.

Your role will be crucial in providing credible professional consultation and guidance for schools, social care colleagues, Special Guardians, Adoptive Parents and formal Kinship carers.

You will need to have successful experience working with schools and with social care colleagues. You will need to have thorough knowledge and experience of schools' statutory responsibilities around admissions, attendance, exclusions, SEND and safeguarding. Ideally, you will have at least 3 years experience in a school setting, working closely with senior leaders in schools.

You will have knowledge of the impact of early trauma and attachment difficulties and the barriers these difficulties can create in pupils' learning. You will have the ability to maintain effective professional relationships at all levels and at times manage complex meetings. You will need to be highly motivated, enthusiastic and well organised with the flexibility to meet deadlines.

In return, you will have the support of a great team, with good training and excellent opportunities for professional development. We are proud of our Virtual School, and are looking for someone special to join us on our journey.

Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check currently £38.00. The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months' salary payments at a rate of £9.50 per month. If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment of £38.00.

If you have lived or worked abroad for 3 months or more in the last 5 years or 12 months or more (whether continuously or in total) in the last 10 years whilst aged 18 or over, please refer to the link below for details for how to obtain your Certificates of Good Character.
