Full Job Description

The Education Commissioning team within the Wellbeing and Partnerships Team in the Children's and Families Directorate have a focus on ensuring children and young people are able to access suitable education to meet their needs and provided with the opportunity to achieve their potential. We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised person to take on the role of Education Brokerage Officer. This role will focus on ensuring and facilitating appropriate alternative education provision can be accessed by children and young people who are unable to attend education at school. This is a busy fast moving area of work. It is an exciting opportunity for you to develop the role and take forward this growing area of work. If you are able to use your initiative, experienced in working with a range of different practitioners and stakeholders and most importantly want to help improve outcomes for children and young people we want you to hear from you. You will join a friendly, hardworking and committed team with a passion to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people This is a permanent post with the possibility of a further temporary 12 month post/secondment becoming available. Main Responsibilities In this role, you will focus on ensuring those children who are unable to attend a school placement can access suitable alternative provision to meet their needs. You will be:

  • liaising with a range of practitioners and professionals to source and put in place alternative provision packages which meet individual needs.
  • training keyworkers and partners on the process for accessing alternative provision.
  • quality assurance of referrals for alternative provision.
  • promoting the dynamic purchasing system to new providers to increase the range of alternative provision available.
  • overseeing block contracts with providers

    You will have:
  • GCSE in Mathematics and English, or equivalent qualification
  • NVQ3 or equivalent qualification or the relevant work experience
  • An understanding of relevant legislative for Children and Families/Education Services
  • Experience of liaising with, training, providing advice to a wide range of professionals
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in partnership with broad range of professionals
