Full Job Description
The School of Oncology has a national and international reputation for delivering high quality learning and education to healthcare professionals . Staff across the department have a commitment to education development, including research and clinical expertise, working within a culture where education is embedded into the philosophy of the organisation.
You will be responsible for the delivery of events services (including the Education Centre, Events and the Maguire Team). This will include service review and the development of continual improvement processes which inform key performance indicators. The postholder will also have particular responsibility for building relationships with industry and accessing a variety of sponsorship and grant opportunities. This will contribute significantly to the financial strategy for Christie Education by ensuring a funding model which underpins risk across the whole department.
You will be a highly experienced events manager who can demonstrate effective leadership skills within service delivery. You will also need a 'can do' approach in order to support our effective and ambitious events and communications team., The education events manager will lead a team of administrators, coordinators and AV technicians across the events services, overseeing the planning, development and delivery of an extensive portfolio of study days, courses and national conferences.
You will be responsible for the delivery of a range of KPIs, in terms of financial targets and supporting the SoO Education Business Manager to deliver a robust pricing and income generation strategy for the service. You will manage the evaluation processes utilising a variety of tools, to develop effective reports on status and service development.
You will play a lead role in developing a marketing plan for the service, ensuring that all activities represent the corporate image and reflect the Christie Education strategy, whilst consistently benchmarking all marketing channels to inform decision making.
You will be responsible for a range of staff development opportunities within the team which will lead to more effective working.
The Christie is one of Europe's leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year. We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.
We provide radiotherapy through one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world; chemotherapy on site and through 14 other hospitals; highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancer; and a wide range of support and diagnostic services. We are also an international leader in research, with world first breakthroughs for over 100 years.
We run one of the largest early clinical trial units in Europe with over 300 trials every year. Cancer research in Manchester, most of which is undertaken on the Christie site, has been officially ranked the best in the UK.
