The post holder will work with a multidisciplinary team, and be responsible for managing the day-to-day imaging service over 2 acute sites. They will be responsible for contributing to the delivery of an efficient and effective cross sectional Radiology service by providing training and education for all directorate staff (professional and non-professional).

The post holder will work with the senior management team to develop an environment and culture that improves quality, health, safety and security. Working in partnership with the cross sectional clinical leads and education lead radiographers to review and develop changes surrounding patient experience and develop education pathways for staff from in house training to post graduate programmes.

Main duties of the job

AIM OF THE ROLE:

The post holder will be expected to deliver high quality education in support of the cross sectional imaging service.

Provides continuous professional clinical leadership and supervision to the multi-disciplinary Radiology department team

To assist in the provision of an effective and efficient imaging service.

To act as a role model and promote effective team-working to provide a high quality diagnostic service.

To strive for continual improvement in the quality of the cross sectional imaging service, working alongside the management and Consultant teams.

To maintain a safe working environment for both staff and patients.

To develop and improve clinical expertise both personally and for the team via continuous professional development

The Radiology Directorate at GHNHSFT manages services across 10 sites in Gloucestershire including 2 large District General Hospitals. We are the second largest directorate in the South West offering a broad range of sub-specialty work including adult and paediatric radiography including trauma and orthopaedics, mobile imaging, general radiography, cardiac and interventional, digital fluoroscopy, CT, MRI and Ultrasound.

We have recently undergone a £6.5m equipment replacement programme on the Cheltenham site with new digital xray rooms and mobiles, new CT scanners and a new MRI scanner. We are also about to open our state of the art Image Guided Interventional Service (IGIS) as part of our fit for the future project.

We were also been given national approval for one of the first Community Diagnostic Centres in the South West which opened its doors in early 2024 providing ultrasound, x-ray, CT and MRI services to the local population.
