Full Job Description

The aims of the MHST - The Healthy Minds Team will be to:

  • Support children and young people within an education setting by delivering Low Intensity CBT (LICBT) evidence-based interventions in particular around anxiety and low mood.
  • Delivering programmes of low-level and preventative support for children and young people in accordance with their needs and age.
  • Deliver evidence-based support to parents.
  • Support school professionals with the provision of advice and consultation around children and young peoples mental health.
  • Work collaboratively with schools to deliver Whole School Approach to mental health, which includes workshops, assemblies, and whole school activities.
  • Deliver a high-quality general and targeted training offer to both parents and professionals.
  • Be able to reach those children and young people who find it hard to access services.
  • Deliver training packages to education staff.
  • The post holder will have successfully completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Studies in the Education Environment. The Mental Health Support Team is located within schools across South Tyneside, and any intervention or service will be delivered from schools and other community bases.

We have an exciting opportunity to be part of The Health Minds Team as a qualified Education Mental Health Practitioner. The post holder will work collaboratively with our education sites across the borough to provide early intervention and preventative evidence based clinical interventions to children and young people to promote resilience and support their emotional wellbeing. The post holder will have successfully completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing studies in the Education Environment. The post holder will have specific knowledge and experience of working with children and young people who have mental health difficulties, and ideally have experience of working with schools or within education settings. The post holder will work within the aims and objectives of the Mental Health Support Team set out in the Mental Health Green Paper, and parameters set out by NHS England.
