Full Job Description
We are a specialist education college supporting young people aged 16-25 with disabilities, complex needs, and autism. We are dedicated to providing an inclusive, supportive environment where students can learn and grow at their own pace. Every day here is unique, but our mission remains the same: to empower each student and help them reach a brighter future. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will help break down barriers to education, working closely with students in their learning and personal growth. This role involves supporting students across all areas of their learning, including in classrooms, external placements, and on visits, as well as assisting with communication, personal care, mobility, and therapy needs (with supervision and training as required). Responsibilities
- Support and Guidance: Work one-to-one and in small groups to provide tailored learning support, helping students to progress along their personal learning journey.
- Multidisciplinary Approach: Collaborate closely with teachers, speech and language therapists, educational psychologists, and other educational assistants.
- Enrichment Activities: Assist students in a range of settings, including swimming, hydrotherapy, and other therapeutic or recreational environments, supporting them both within and outside the classroom.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records using DataBridge and other college systems, contributing to planning and review processes.
- Family and External Liaison: Act as a point of contact for families and carers, respecting the college's confidentiality protocols and the Together Trust's commitment to safeguarding.
We're looking for individuals with experience working with young adults with additional needs who may sometimes display challenging behaviours. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a team environment and who is passionate about supporting students with complex needs, empowering them to realise their potential. - Holidays: 27 days plus 8 bank holidays (rising to 30 after 5 years, and 33 after 10 years)
- Pension and Protection: Generous pension scheme with up to 7% employer contribution, plus death in service benefit
- Work-Life Balance: Occupational sick pay and enhanced family-friendly policies, including maternity, paternity, and adoptive leave
- Discounts and Rewards: Access to high street discounts, insurances, and more via our reward platform
- On-Site Parking & Cycle Scheme: Free parking and cycle-to-work scheme
- Wellbeing Support: Blue Light Card eligibility, in-house Mental Health First Aiders, weekly yoga sessions, and an Employee Assistance Programme
- Professional Development: CPD opportunities, including apprenticeships, plus a referral scheme, long-service awards, and promotions for internal career progression
