Full Job Description

0 To support the Inclusion Co-ordinator in providing high quality care and education for children in the Special Support Centre. 0 Have shared Keyworker responsibility for a group of children in the Special Support Centre. Section III. Core Duties Following the guidance of the Inclusion Co-ordinator and Keyworkers:

  • Work with Inclusion Co-ordinator, Speech and Language Therapist and other agencies to support children's development.
  • Support and work with paired Keyworkers in Nursery School to implement plans which facilitate the learning of children in the SSC.
  • Work with children in the SSC in the School and in the children's home environment (alongside their parents).
  • Collate and maintain accurate records of achievement for a group of children in the Special Support Centre.
  • Share observations with the Inclusion Co-ordinator, Keyworkers, parents and other agencies.
  • Evaluate impact of specific activities with children in the SSC, record and share with Inclusion Co-ordinator.
  • Work in close partnership with the Inclusion Co-ordinator as necessary e.g. cover for short periods for parent conferencing.
  • Support the rest of the team in using augmented communication systems for children with special educational needs e.g. Makaton, use of visual timetable and 'PECS'
  • Attend and participate in planning staff meetings, in-service training, performance management and other professional development opportunities as required.
  • Support children / parents and staff with transition into primary school including follow up visits as necessary.
  • Use PPA time to prepare and maintain resources to aid children's access to the curriculum framework and to update children's records.
  • Develop and maintain an aspect of SSC and/or Nursery School practice or provision.
  • Promote the Nursery School as a facility within the community.
  • Be aware of and abide by relevant policies, procedures and standards required by Bognor Regis Nursery School, the Local Authority, Social Services and OFSTED.
  • Have a responsibility towards safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children (noting relevant policies including Health and Safety, Child Protection and Safeguarding etc.)
  • Have the ability to draw on experience of working with young children with special educational needs.
  • Understand the nature of an integrated provision and feedback any areas of concern to the leadership team in a professional manner.
