Full Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Paediatric Infectious Diseases Programme in the Department of Paediatrics as our Educational Fellow, Paediatric Infectious Diseases & Immunology or Paediatrics.
You will play an important role in the contribution of the department's continued investment to provide professionally orientated education in Paediatric Infectious Disease (PID) for future leading clinicians. The post also provides opportunity for participation in research activities with the Oxford Vaccine Group and/or the paediatric infectious disease clinical service and working with the clinical team in delivering the infectious disease service for children in Oxford.
You will be responsible for contributing to the development of the programme and provide effective support through great communication and organisational skills.
You will be working in a growing department within the Medical Sciences Division. The Department of Paediatrics is a world leader in child health research and hosts internationally renowned research programmes in drug development, gastroenterology, haematology, HIV, immunology, neuroimaging, neuromuscular diseases and vaccinology.
This position is offered full-time on a fixed-term contract initially for two years with the possibility to extend provided further external funding is available.
You will have an appropriate medical qualification equivalent to MBBS, supplemented by GMC registration and MRCPCH (or equivalent), as well as relevant post-qualification experience or interest in working in Paediatric Infectious Diseases & Immunology, evidence of excellence, or the potential for excellent in undergraduate and graduate teaching, with a willingness in principle to contribute to clinical service subject to obtaining an honorary NHS contract. You may be still in a training grade or have completed clinical training in the UK or equivalent programme. You will possess a strong demonstrable commitment to the organisation and delivery of teaching, and display high attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to exercise discretion and judgement. You will have highly effective verbal and written communication skills and an ability to operate effectively in a demanding and dynamic research environment.
