Full Job Description

The Mental Health in Schools Teams are part of an exciting trailblazer project funded by NHS England, Health Education England and partners, with the aim of improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and young people in the community, in response to the government's Green Paper for Transforming children and young people's mental health. There is a specific focus on developing more access to helping and improving the general culture of emotional support within all primary and secondary schools. Working alongside community partners the Mental Health in Schools Team will form the schools pathway in Greenwich alongside the well-established CAMHS Early intervention team and educational settings. This recruitment is to support further expansion of the existing GMHST team., This is a training role, moving to a qualified EMHP role upon completion of the course, the post holder will work within the service providing low intensity interventions whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role. The training post will equip the post-holder to provide a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self- management interventions to children and young people with mild to moderate anxiety and depression and/or behavioural difficulties. The post- holder will attend all taught and self-study days required by the education provider and Oxleas, as specified within the EMHP curriculum and work in the service for the remaining days of the week using their newly developed skills; weekly during term time during the training year (3 days, then reducing to 2 and so on until fully qualified). The post holder will work with children, young people and parents with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.
