Full Job Description

We are looking for a committed individual to work with adults with mental health needs, to provide education, study skills and specialist SpLD support. Based in the Forensic low and medium-secure services, you will be working in partnership with a large, supportive Occupational Therapy team, to deliver accredited Functional Skills and ESOL from Entry Level 1 to Level 2.
This post also provides an exciting opportunity to assist in developing learning support provision for those with Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ASD and ADHD. It will include working closely with a care team, particularly Occupational Therapists qualified in sensory integration and functional cognitive assessment, to create a new care pathway for service users needing additional support.
We are ideally looking for 22.5 hours provision per week. There is some flexibility around how hours can be timetabled, but we would require a routine, weekly commitment., The Education SpLD Tutor will provide an education programme for South West London and St George's (Shaftesbury Clinic), in line with the South London Partnership's objective. The post holder will manage and develop an education programme that contributes to service priorities and objectives by assessing, delivering and evaluating learners' needs and development, maximising opportunities for their achievements and success.
The post holder will devise and source specialist resources that enable effective delivery of learning objectives according to the needs and development of the learners in English and Maths to GCSE/Functional Skills Level 2 and Computer/Information Computer Technology to Level 3 in an individual and/or classroom setting dependent on the needs of the learner.
The remit of the post holder will be to provide front facing, visible and accessible support by offering face-to-face lessons onsite, directly to learners, utilising diagnostic assessments. For learners that require enhanced support, such as Intellectual Disabilities, Autism, Dyslexia and English as a Second Language, a bespoke programme will be devised to ensure learning needs are met., · Carry out specialist adult education initial and diagnostic assessments
· Deliver adult education courses up to accreditation level
· Liaise with education awarding bodies
· Process examination registrations and certificates
· Contribute to and carry out risk assessment and management plans pertaining to requirements in a secure setting
· Provide specialist adult education advice to the mutli-professional clinical teams
· Have a flexible approach to learning by applying different learning styles and interventions/subjects as required
· Work independently and without direct supervision
· Have an in-depth knowledge of specialist educational assessments and interventions
· Ensure sharing of good practice is implemented in the South London Partnership Forensic Programme with specialist adult education
· Work within the recovery, social inclusion and integrated care agenda
· Deliver an enhanced adult education programme for learners with complex needs and challenging behaviour in a secure setting
· Adhere to the Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression training relevant to a secure setting
· Continually observe learners during sessions and respond to their needs accordingly
· Ensure that up to date electronic and written records are maintained in accordance with organisational standards
