Full Job Description

The post holder will work as a member of the clinical education team delivering non clinical training programmes to trust staff and external customers from both the Bedford Hospital and the Luton & Dunstable Hospital training facilities.
The successful applicant will be required to undertake training to be able to deliver / facilitate training programmes that are internal trust packages or external NHS or private sector produced courses that are delivered under licence., · To deliver non-clinical skills and vocational training programmes for both clinical and non clinical staff to support their achievement of identified training and competency requirements.
· To actively promote patient safety and through the facilitation of training programmes, to ensure that learning reflects improvements to the patient experience.
· To support the delivery of objectives for a designated work stream within Bedfordshire Hospitals. The post holder will be based on either the Luton and Dunstable or Bedford Hospital site, but expected to work across the Trust and including off site locations., Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital services to a growing population of around 700,000 people living across Bedfordshire and the surrounding areas across two busy hospital sites in Bedford and Luton. Both hospital sites offer key services such as A&E, Obstetrics-led Maternity and Paediatrics. Please review all documents attached to ensure you familiarize yourself with all requirements of the job., Non - Clinical Skills Training
· Work with the clinical educators, operational managers and supervisors to assess the non-clinical skills/learning needs within the Trust; ensuring departmental requirements and competencies are clear and inform the training needs analysis for that area.
· To support / contribute to the audit of training needs of staff in conjunction with clinical educators, practice development nurses and service managers to ensure the competency based training programmes are appropriate and meet the needs of staff.
· Support managers in monitoring the performance of all learners. They will ensure that each learner is monitored for safe practice and assessed against the Trust and national standards.
· Contribute to the development and delivery of Trust strategies and initiatives by delivering and evaluating appropriate training packages and competency assessments.
· To work as a member of the Trust education team delivering classroom training on each of the programmes related to a range of internal and externally source programmes.
· To actively encourage and role model best practice with multi-professional staff.
· To contribute to the quality control aspects of all training provision within the Trust, i.e. ensuring that the standard of work based learning portfolios are maintained and that support of learners is provided.
Managerial Responsibilities
· Maintain awareness of the other education work streams and projects, supporting and cross covering colleagues as required.
· Being flexible, to work with learners out of hours or when required,
· Escalate/address any concerns regarding practice with the appropriate departmental manager and Divisional Matron.
· Maintain training records of staff progress against the educational key performance indicators and contribute to the training reports to the board.
· To take part in sharing good practice days for multi-professional staff, raising awareness of development opportunities both internally and externally including careers fairs.
· To gain accreditation with relevant training institutes to ensure quality standards are evident in internal training programmes.
· To participate in recruitment and selection events for staff including Student Nurses, Overseas nurses and Return to Practice students as and when appropriate.
· To be actively involved in promoting good communication between wards/departments.
Education, Training and Development of Staff
· To support the on-going Trust programmes, including the induction programme for both registered and unregistered staff.
· To provide workshops for trust staff and students to update their practice or learn new skills.
· To provide approved training programmes using the latest research, developing resources and presentations. For those programmes they are responsible for, continually evaluate them using feedback to further developmental opportunities.
· Deliver internally developed non-clinical courses and commercial courses that the organisation delivers under licence for example NHS Improvements QSIR programme, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People etc
· To support subject matter experts in the planning, implementation and monitoring of educational programmes and competencies

· Promote awareness and compliance amongst colleagues regarding Trust policies, procedures, guidelines and standards.
