Full Job Description

This position will be based at our Thermopatch Sports UK production site reporting to the operational leader, driving the safety culture and employee engagement at all levels, across all shifts to enhance safety performance and drive a zero tolerance culture. You will be collaborative, partner proactively across all functions, adapt to the constantly evolving environment of our manufacturing site and have ownership to provide a best in class safety training program and culture. The EHS and ELS Coordinator will create and ensure that the required quality standards are maintained within the organization and ensure compliance to customer, as well as Environmental/Health & Safety standards. The ELS Project Leader is a Lean/Six Sigma expert who uses the tools of Lean/Six Sigma to identify opportunities at the site or within a functional area to improve business results. Your Responsibilities

  • Owning, creating and driving a proactive culture of safety, across all functions that is adaptable to the challenges of a large, growing manufacturing organization.
  • Lead in a manner consistent with Avery Dennison Values and Code of Conduct, living our culture through every day interactions and communications.
  • Organizing and controlling the EHS functions of the site in a collaborative manner to ensure that best in class accident prevention programs are created and maintained.
  • Implementing environmental, health and safety education and training to support regulatory and business requirements.
  • Investigating all releases, injuries and near-misses.
  • Managing Job Safety Analysis and PPE compliance program.
  • Maintaining the facility's compliance records for permits. Reviewing applicable regulation changes that impact permits and/or compliance.
  • Managing the safety program to assure compliance with corporate audit protocols.
  • Ensure our facility and that of our outsource partners is compliant to our customer audit regulations.
  • Identifying and evaluating hazardous conditions and practices and developing hazard control practices and programs.
  • Actively manage a contractor safety program to ensure compliance to corporate EHS standards.
  • Managing industrial hygiene programs. Coordinate periodic industrial hygiene monitoring of noise, air quality and other IH levels.
  • Reviewing plant incident statistics and making recommendations for correction of problem areas.
  • Conducting periodic risk assessments of plant machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure conformance to appropriate safety and sanitary standards and regulations.
  • Provide advice, assist, and audit the front line leadership to ensure that effective EHS is implemented and working
  • Maintain working relationships with Regulatory Agencies and chair or co- chair and lead the Safety Committees.
  • Assist with maintaining the Site Preparedness and Emergency Plans & Procedures.
  • ELS
  • Develop in-depth understanding of Enterprise Lean Sigma philosophy and methods as demonstrated by successful training and certification in these areas.
  • Analyze Supply Chain and help identify projects or process changes that will eliminate non-value added activities and create or improve processes that add value to our customers (maximize quality and minimize waste, variance and costs)
  • Successfully initiate and lead and implement projects assigned.
  • Be a change agent - challenge old ways of doing business and implement breakthrough improvements.
  • Motivate others to accept process changes and take ownership through improved policy deployment, problem solving and workplace organisation.
  • Train, educate, and mentor others in the organization on Lean/Sigma principles.
  • Identify project opportunities within site or across business unit. Identify and remove organizational barriers to continuous improvement process.
  • Drive site's layout and flow process improvement efforts. Drive efforts on applying best practices.
  • Use the Value Stream Map to establish the baseline process and measure progress.
  • Produce measurable operational productivity gains and align with yearly budget plans and lean enterprise objectives.
  • Track and report on project Continuous Improvement metrics.
  • Report results and issues to Operations Manager
  • Oversee the introduction and implementation of new assets and processes to ensure best practice operation, efficiency and performance

    Experience in an EHS or similar role, within a manufacturing environment
  • Advanced professional EHS certification (CSP, CIH, CHMM, QEP, CEA, REM etc.) preferred
  • Enterprise Lean Sigma knowledge and understanding
  • Demonstrated success in leading efficient and effective compliance programs
  • Strong Google Sheets (MS Excel) Skills
  • Willing to travel on occasion to other sites within the UK, with some occasional travel outside the UK
