Full Job Description

The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager oversees the site's EHS Advisor team, providing guidance on regulatory compliance for health, safety, and environmental issues that impact daily operations. They foster a culture of safety through education initiatives and set EHS benchmarks for site employees, embodying these standards by setting an example. The attitudes, values, and behaviors of the EHS Manager greatly shape and direct the team's performance.

In this role you will…

  • Ensures adherence to health, safety, and environmental laws and GSK guidelines, instructs employees about their responsibilities, and aids in preserving employee wellbeing and preventing accidents. Additionally, they ensure the facility sustains proper interaction with employees and safety representatives regarding EHS issues.

  • Ensures that the site maintains a timely response to actions arising from accidents and/or incidents that arise from investigations. Ensures that the EHS team provides information about accident and incident prevention to line managers to assist them with their investigations.

  • Manages and contributes to EHS self inspection (L1) and internal (L2) audits and supports the site during level 3 and 4 audits.

  • Supports the EHS Director (and provides cover as required), Senior Leadership Team and other EHS team members to ensure EHS is maintained to a high standard on site and can influence management decisions. Supports the EHS Director and other departmental heads in devising strategic opportunities to enhance EHS controls for the site. Able to fulfill EHS Advisor duties as required.

  • Contributes to and supports a learning environment for EHS topics for all staff on site and networks with other EHS staff from within GSK to share good practice; also maintains a network with outside industry and trade bodies. Keeps up to date with modern processes and techniques, with specific reference to EHS.

  • Assists to ensure the site maintains an adequate pool of competent and trained staff with specific EHS knowledge e.g. EHS team, HAZOP Chair, DGSA, Human Factors specialists etc., We believe in an agile working culture for all our roles.   • Degree in related subject such as Chemistry, Engineering etc

  • NEBOSH General Certificate

  • Relevant EHS/management experience
