Full Job Description

This EHV Oil Mechanic (Fitter) will report to the field staff supervisor and will work within Network Operations based in our East London office. You will be a permanent employee in our UK Power Networks team., This role will plays an important role in the safe completion of the Inspection, Maintenance and Fault Repairs of Pressurised Cables up to and including 132kv. You may work at any location within the UK Power Networks area. You will work as part of a team of Oil Mechanics/EHV Fitters that report to a Senior Project Manager and have the support of experienced Field Engineers. Your work will include Inspection, Maintenance and Fault repairs of Pressurised Cables at voltages up to and including 132kV. Duties

  • Responsibility for all aspects of Safety, Health and Environment relevant to this role
  • Comply with all UKPN procedures and work to a high standard of quality.
  • Perform risk assessments and demonstrate a safety culture.
  • Report hazards and defects that they are unable to rectify through the appropriate reporting procedure
  • Inspection and Maintenance of EHV Pressurised Cables up to and including 132kv
  • Fault location and repair of all EHV Pressurised Cables up to and including 132kv
  • Partner with control and perform stand-by tasks to maintain network security
  • Be able to operate hand held IT equipment to receive job instructions and record asset data information
  • Be an ambassador for UK Power Networks
  • Be able to work on their own or as part of a team.

    You should have the following:
  • ONC in electrical power or City & Guilds Part 232/2339 in electrical/electronic qualification
  • Electrical apprenticeship in a power distribution (or similar) company
  • Be able to demonstrate experience of working on regional electricity networks and therefore have a comprehensive knowledge of the electrical distribution network.
  • Knowledge of pressurised cable systems
  • Hold a current driving licence
  • Desirable
  • Competent to work on the LPN network
  • NRSWA (City & Guilds) certificate
  • HGV licence

    You will attract a salary of £41,536 dependant on experience plus London allowance + benefits package and a bonus of 3%.
