Full Job Description

We are looking for a person that has experience in a customer service environment, is reliable, have a flexible approach to the needs of the service and enjoys working as part of a team and to be committed to the role to ensure a quality service is delivered.   • Check patients details and demographics and ensure that Cerner is updated
  • On receipt of referral l into the department add all patients to the active waiting list.
  • Book Pre-op assessment appointments as required
  • Contact patients to agree planned admission dates updating the relevant systems
  • Action and monitor healthcare communication
  • Send confirmation letters to patients
  • Elective Admissions is a valued service provider to the Trust. We are responsible for the scheduling of patients admission dates for all elective surgery. Our team of 25 admission clerks manage over 90 consultants waiting lists within General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Urology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Max Fax, General Medicine. Due to an increase in service provision we are looking for an individual with a positive attitude who will work well within the existing team and enable the team to achieve their targets whilst improvements are under taken to provide a quality patient service .
  • Generate pre-admission lists and pre-operative assessment lists from the Patient
  • Check on Cerner that the appointment/procedure is still booked just prior to contact being made with patients/carers.
  • Adhere to the pre admission call process. Input, action all appointment outcomes on the healthcare communications service. Document the outcome of the call and any questions asked by the patients.
  • Telephone patients/carers to confirm we have their correct contact details and that they will be attending their pre-operative assessment appointment, inpatient or day-case procedures.
  • Ensure all patients are treated with tact and sensitivity whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Contact GP surgeries to obtain correct contact details for patients that we have incorrect information for within our systems.
  • Inform Elective Admission Clerks of all outcomes of telephone communication with patients so that any cancellations can be replaced to maintain maximum theatre utilisation.
