Full Job Description

Do you have an interest in Electoral Administration? Warwick District Council has an exciting opportunity for a reliable, committed, and enthusiastic Electoral Services Assistant to join the Electoral Services team on a fixed term contract for two years to assist the team with the implementation of the Elections Act 2022 and the County Council elections.

Electoral Services have challenging and busy times ahead with the new election laws and the County Council elections in May 2025 so we are looking for an individual who will remain positive, calm and rise to the challenge.

The successful applicant will be prepared to work unsociable hours in an office setting. The successful applicant would benefit from some knowledge of the Elections Act 2022 and can use their own initiative to share ideas to implement the new laws into working practice.

The successful applicant will report directly to the Electoral Services Manager and will play a key role within the team.

You will undertake various duties in supporting the Election Officers in planning of tasks around running elections and the maintenance of the electoral register. You will also undertake various duties required to implement the new laws with regards to accessibility and absent voters. You will be required to work 37 hours per week Monday-Friday.

You will also be required to work additional hours which will include evenings and weekends mainly in the lead up to elections but on occasion during other key electoral activities to meet the demands of the service.

The intention is for the postholder to work most of the time in the office at the start of the role. However, home working can be agreed after a period.
