Full Job Description

This key role will report to the Electrical Discipline Lead and will have responsibility for the following:

  • Prepare and check engineering procedures, specifications and standards.
  • Oversight and supervision of:
  • + Discipline basis of design and specifications. + Data sheets. + Requisitions. + Technical bid evaluations. + Detailed discipline drawings.
  • Check and review vendor proposals, documentation and drawings.
  • Act as Lead Electrical Engineer on Projects and Proposals.
  • Lead or participate in project, client, and vendor meetings.
  • Provide input to proposals. Prepare and check man-hour and material cost estimates.
  • Provide Input to Construction Subcontract; evaluate bids and supervise contractor.
  • Oversee and execute other engineering activities specific to the Electrical design such as:
  • Power system studies.
  • Single Line Diagrams
  • Load Summaries
  • Substation Layout Drawings
  • Material Take Offs and Priced Bill of Materials
  • Travel in the UK and overseas, for meetings, equipment testing and site technical support for projects.
  • Act as a mentor to other employees.

  • A degree level engineering qualification.
  • Experience as a lead engineer through design, procurement and construction phases with a depth and breadth of experience in design from first principles of electrical infrastructure associated with chemical/polymer/power/industrial plant.
  • Knowledge of European, American and International standards applicable to the chemical industry which must include understanding of hazardous area requirements under DSEAR, ATEX, IEC 60079, API RP 500 & 505 and IP Part 15.
  • Capability to apply in-depth skills and broad knowledge to address complex problems and non-standard engineering situations. Capacity to solve complex problems whilst taking a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions.
  • Provide motivation, leadership, mentoring and guidance whilst managing time schedules and manhours to meet objectives, forecasts, and resource requirements.
  • Able to review, interpret and work in accordance with Client/Company standards and procedures.
  • Self-motivated person keen to learn and work as part of a team with good communication skills.
