Electrical Engineer - If you are a dedicated and skilled individual with a passion for excellence, we invite you to join our team at the United States Air Force, 420th Air Base Squadron, RAF Fairford. We are looking for someone with knowledge and experience as an Electrical Engineer able to perform operations and maintenance (O&M) engineering duties in support of a military installation. Our team is dedicated to excellence, innovation, and the highest standards of operational readiness., You will be responsible for performing O&M engineering involving design and construction that encompasses the maintenance, repair, upgrade, and operation of infrastructure facilities, including utility systems, utilizing professional knowledge of electrical engineering. You will plan, program, budgets, and executes required projects in support of assigned programs and perform planning and design work for substantial sustainment, modernization, repair, improvement, renovations, and construction projects for real property facilities, including utility systems, utilizing a professional knowledge of electrical engineering and manage projects for new construction, renovations, and improvements to real property facilities and maintains surveillance over in-house labor or construction contractors utilizing a professional knowledge of electrical engineering and knowledge of other engineering disciplines to ensure overall compliance with project requirements. You will provide consulting services and project coordination and collect data and evaluate factors which affect the application of concepts, principles, theories, and methods required to observe, examine, measure, analyze, map, and describe physical and technical features and phenomena. You must comply with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment. Your hours of work will be 37.5 hours per week on a fixed schedule (Monday-Friday 0800-1630) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies.

You will need to have a professional knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, principles, and practices and familiarity with architectural and other engineering disciplines. Your knowledge should include a broad range of engineering and construction standards, methods, practices, and techniques, materials, and equipment to determine compliance with federal, state, and local codes and regulations; of standard contracting regulations, practices, and procedures as it relates to facilities engineering; knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements as outlined in applicable standards, regulations, and/or technical orders; of environmental principles, practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and current legislative issues; of work classifications and the regulatory and statutory restrictions on the expenditures of appropriated and non-appropriated funds. Knowledge of automated data processing concepts, systems capabilities, and economic usage to effectively accomplish assigned functions; and knowledge of program planning and budgeting cycles, financial control and budget systems and management are required, in addition to a knowledge of aesthetic and functional design techniques and skill in preparing project documentation, to include preliminary drawings, sketches, and construction drawings; and technique / skill in drafting sufficient to convey design concepts and ideas and formulate working drawings. You will need to be able to plan, conduct and record site/facilities surveys and inspection; to analyze, interpret, and apply results, rules, regulations, and procedures in a variety of situations and recommend timely and economical solutions and plan and organize work and coordinate with other engineering disciplines and architects; and communicate effectively both orally and in writing and maintain good working relationships.,

  • A bachelor's degree in the appropriate field together with one years specialized experience or
  • a combination of college level education (City and Guilds, NVQ or equivalent qualifications in an appropriate discipline) and three years specialized experience.
  • A valid UK Driving License - Category B is required
  • Certificates and licenses must be submitted for your application to be valid. Other significant facts about the role: You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent. You may act as project liaison with the Army Corps of Engineers or other design agencies as required and be required to serve on A&E selection boards. You must meet the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) requirements applicable to the duties of the position. You will have up to 24 months to meet the applicable mandatory experience, education, and training requirements. This position requires the use of a hand-held two-way radio or alternative method of on-site communication. All successful applicants will require a security clearance and a right to work in the UK.
