Full Job Description

Would you enjoy working as part of a hands-on multidisciplinary Project Delivery Scheme team? If so, we have an interesting opportunity in our south division which covers Christchurch, Warminster, Charmouth and everything in between. The base location can be anywhere within these areas. What you'll do As an Electrical/ICA bias Project Engineer you will be responsible for both reactive and planned capital maintenance projects, covering a diverse range of sites, including water recycling, water production, sewerage and water distribution. Project value varies between £15,000 and £200,000. Projects can include a planned 12l/s pumping station upgrade, a reactive primary settlement tank half bridge centre bearing and slip ring repair, an emergency 6l/s wastewater treatment side stream, and adding 30m3 additional carbon GAC treatment for water production. As our Project Engineer, your role will be interactive with the project in construction, where you will be involved in optioneering, contracts, tendering, spend forecasting, project delivery, commissioning, authoring payments and project closedowns, as well as working closely with our contractors to achieve this. Responsibilities within your role will also include ensuring that all health and safety and other statutory regulations that may affect the construction process are adhered to and that the delivery process is in line with our policy. You will also play a key role in ensuring company and departmental targets are met, as well as assisting in the establishment of budgets and approvals. At the same time, we will support you in a culture of learning and personal development, giving you the best possible chance to develop your career.

We are looking for someone with a positive and can-do attitude who is well-organised, customer-focused and a great team player. Ideally, you will be from a construction and/or water industry background with experience in electrical engineering, project management and working closely with external contractors. You must have a safety-first approach and good negotiation and influencing skills. You will also need to hold a valid driving licence; a company car will be provided if you are not able to use your own vehicle. In addition, you will ideally:

  • hold a formal qualification in project management
  • hold a technical qualification level 4 (HNC) with an electrical/ICA bias
  • be a professionally registered engineer (EngTech/IEng) or working towards this (support can be given on professional registration)
  • have working knowledge of CDM 2015
  • hold SMSTS, SSSTS certificates.
