This is a 2-year Research & Development graduate program with a 2025 start date, but it's not about sitting on the side-lines. You'll be a valued member of the team from day one, gaining hands-on experience and working alongside industry experts. We offer a comprehensive training program designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to succeed in your engineering career. There will be lots of opportunity for learning on the job from our highly skilled and experienced engineers and the scheme also has training programme, which focuses on supporting you in the transition from university into the workplace and providing the skills and knowledge to help you on your way to moving into an Engineer role after 2 years We are an aspiring organisation, and we are looking for an equally bold and creative Graduate Electrical Test Harness Engineer to join our dynamic Electrical & Electronics Design team. Nissan is positioned to become the most desirable Asian brand in Europe, and we need your help to get there. Main Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Electrical test covers a wide variety of electrical and electronics components and testing, both at ECU level (bench testing), system level, and vehicle level. Our components cover :
  • + body electronics (controlling lights/wipers/locking/illumination/windows/park aids/etc.), + combi meter/heads-up display/around view monitor and audio systems + harness and vehicle reliability (EMC)
  • We have the greatest variety of components and testing in all the electronics departments here at NTCE, and are therefore often heavily involved in supporting trials to build prototype vehicles both in Japan and Sunderland, as well as testing at local suppliers like MIRA/IDIADA/etc.
  • The department is a great place to learn about the variety of electrical systems on the cars. The role entails:
  • + Gathering information from design about the commodities you have responsibility for. + Reviewing changes from the base design in order to decide test menu. + Arranging test vehicles and allocation with project teams, as well as technicians/equipment/off-site facilities/etc. + Carrying out testing either in person or using technicians/suppliers. + Feeding back test results and concerns to design and project teams. Below are some comments from our existing graduate engineer on their view of the role.
  • As a graduate within Electrical test you can expect to be exposed to various electrical commodities that are vital to make a vehicle work. Being part of the electrical test team as a grad, means you get a mixture of being very hands on as well as more technical desk based activities. There is always something new to do within the department, as projects change and new cars are designed. So no day is the same.
  • There may be job requests that require testing competitor cars which exposes you to how different manufacturers resolve certain problems. This helps broaden your horizon to come up with different testing methodologies or feedback to give to design.
  • There are always opportunities to learn and advance your engineering skills within the department. From HUD (Heads-Up-Display) to Combi-Meter to audio/telephony sound quality to BCM (Body Control Module) function testing or harness testing, the list goes on. Everyone is willing to share knowledge with you.
  • As a grad you get the opportunity to work with very experienced engineers to gain knowledge from. Everyone is willing to listen to ideas and suggestions, even if you are less experienced. This makes it a very good environment to come to work in. It is enjoyable to have freedom and encouragement to find and learn better ways to do your job. This is what happens in the department and what makes it a good place within NTCE to work.

You must hold or expect to achieve the following qualification(s): Undergraduate or Postgraduate Degree graded 2:1 or above in a relevant field.
  • Sufficient evidence of your right to work in the UK will be required. Your right to work in the UK or VISA must extend until September 2027 in order for you to qualify for this position.
