Electrician - If you are a dedicated and skilled individual with a passion for excellence, we invite you to join our team at the United States Air Force, 48th Civil Engineer Squadron, RAF Lakenheath We are looking for someone with knowledge and experience with installing, repairing, troubleshooting and maintain various electrical systems. Why RAF Lakenheath: Located in the heart of Suffolk, RAF Lakenheath is home to the 48th Civil Engineer Squadron. This base is pivotal in maintaining international security and fostering strong alliances between the US and UK. Our team is dedicated to excellence, innovation, and the highest standards of operational readiness., You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing and replace electrical systems such as panels, services and various power sources. Additionally, you will modify loads and carries out inspection and testing of new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, panels, switches, breakers, and controls located in and near installation buildings and structures. You will troubleshoot problem areas and tests for defective equipment and faulty wiring. In this position you will use and maintains various types of hand and/or power tools as well as utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. You will also maintain records and documents actions. You may be required to facilitate an on-call function over a 24-hour period covering 7 days a week as per the manning roster, subject to conditions. On call allowance is currently £16.00 per day. It is required to possess a valid CAT B UK driving license in order to drive a motor vehicle to and from work sites. For this position you will be required to pass a pre-employment physical, this will be conducted at RAF Lakenheath. Your hours of work will be 39 hours per week on a fixed schedule Mon-Fri 0745-1615 where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies., You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Emergency overtime may be required. You may work with hazardous materials such as asbestos or accumulated waste. You will be required to wear protective clothing and gear on these occasions. You will also be expected to obtain ATEX/DSEAR internal and external training certification within one year. First aid training for electric shock and fire safety training is required All successful applicants will require a security clearance and a right to work in the UK.
You must possess a City and Guilds/NVQ Level 3 Award in an appropriate discipline and BS 7671 18th Edition Regulation . You will have knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures as well as knowledge of technical practices in order to plan, lay out, install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair and inspect and test a variety of complete systems. You will show knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and instruments used in shop and trade practices, and of electrical equipment, i.e., test lamps, multimeters, circuit analyzers, circuit breaker testers, voltage recording meters, meggers, wattmeters, ohmeters, and ammeters. You will have skill in using and maintaining hand tools such as, screwdrivers, pliers, wirecutters, strippers, cable pullers, drills, soldering irons, and manual or power conduit benders and threaders as well as skill in troubleshooting and tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems. You will have the ability to use electrical drawings, blueprints, engineering drawings, and wiring diagrams and to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various electrical systems, controls, and equipment without more than normal supervision. Qualification requirements:
- City and Guilds/NVQ Level 3 Award in an appropriate discipline
- BS 7671 18th Edition Regulation
- Valid CAT B driving license
- Inspection, Testing & Certification of Electrical Installations City & Guilds 2391 desired.
Competitive salary: the starting salary for this position is £15.95 ph. plus a Recruitment Incentive totaling £8086.52 per year for four years, subject to conditions - Holiday: 25 days Annual Leave + UK Bank Holidays
