Full Job Description

Typical day to day duties will include:

  • Assembly of precision gauges, jigs, fixtures and machinery to technical designs/specifications - This will include electronic, mechanical and pneumatic assembly

  • Minor modifications and adjustments using milling machines, lathes and surface grinders

  • Upgrading of old/used equipment

  • Quality and performance testing of equipment

  • Verifying metrology using a range of measurement instruments and techniques

  • Report and documentation generation associated to equipment to build and test as per the requirements detailed in the company's quality management system

  • Troubleshooting on both new and old equipment

  • Preparation of equipment for packing prior to handover to the logistics department

  • Occasional site maintenance


  • The training you will be getting

    This is a Level 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship - Product Design pathway, delivered over a period of 4 years.

    Training at the training provider will include the following:
  • Complying with statutory regulations & organisational safety requirements

  • Working efficiently and effectively in an engineering environment

  • Using and communicating technical information

  • Conducting business improvement techniques (covered in induction)

  • Producing components using hand fitting techniques

  • Preparing & using lathes for turning operations

  • Preparing & using milling machines

  • General welding applications

  • Producing CAD models (drawings) using a CAD system

  • Assembling & testing fluid power systems

  • Wiring and testing electrical equipment circuits

  • Maintaining electrical equipment & systems


  • You will be required to attend the training centre, In-Comm Training Service in Telford, TF3 3AJ 2.5 days per week.

    All apprentices will be required to achieve as a minimum:
  • An employer approved Level 2 Foundation Competence qualification

  • An employer approved Level 3 Development Competence qualification

  • An employer approved Level 3 Development Technical Knowledge qualification

    Once qualified as a highly skilled technician, you will be able to contribute to new designs and development builds as well as having the opportunity to progress to a HNC upon completion of this apprenticeship., Communication skills, Attention to detail, Organisation skills, Problem solving skills, Logical, Team working, Creative, Physical fitness, engineering interest / hobbies, GCSE or equivalent English, Maths and Science (Grade 9-5) Essential, Candidate will need to be physically fit. A driving license/ working towards gaining this would be beneficial.
