Electronic Industrial Control Mechanic - If you are a dedicated and skilled individual with a passion for excellence, we invite you to join our team at the United States Air Force, 48th Civil Engineer Squadron, RAF Lakenheath We are looking for someone with knowledge and experience in installing, maintaining, testing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating highly complex systems of electronic sensing and control. Why RAF Lakenheath: Located in the heart of Suffolk, RAFLakenheath is home to the 48th Civil Engineer Squadron. This base is pivotal in maintaining international security and fostering strong alliances between the US and UK. Our team is dedicated to excellence, innovation, and the highest standards of operational readiness., You will be responsible for planning and lay out work from electrical and electronic block diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical orders. You will perform pretest, operational (functional), and final testing; final tuning; alignment; and/or calibration of highly complex electronic systems, components, and/or subassemblies as well as install, overhaul, repair, fabricate, and/or modify electronically controlled industrial systems, components, and/or subassemblies. You will perform preventive maintenance on electronic control systems to include disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and calibration as well as utilize safety and security practices and procedures following established rules and regulations and maintains a safe, clean, and secure work environment. For this position you will be required to pass a pre-employment physical , this will be conducted at RAF Lakenheath. The hours of work will be 39 hours per week on a fixed schedule Mon-Fri 0730-1600 where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization's flexible working policies.
You will show comprehensive knowledge of the operation, capabilities, and limitations of complex electronic systems complicated by a variety of multi-component assemblies and devices, as well as knowledge of electronic theory and circuits and basic logic circuits for power, timing, and motion controls, indicating and counting mechanisms, and similar devices. You will have knowledge of Boolean algebra to construct truth tables and logic equations for analysis of logic circuits, and knowledge of related electrical, mechanical, optical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. For this position you will show knowledge of safety, environmental, and security regulations, practices, and procedures and knowledge of regulations, procedures, and policies related to records maintenance and documentation. You will show skill in troubleshooting electronic problems on large projects and applying test procedures; and in the use of hand and power tools of the electronics trade to include a variety of electronic, electrical, or electromechanical test and measurement equipment. You will have the ability to test, calibrate, troubleshoot, overhaul, repair, and install complete electronic systems, and ability to read and interpret a variety of technical data, such as schematics, diagrams, and technical orders relating to the electronics trade,
- An appropriate, valid CAT B driver's license is required for the position.
- Must hold Level III NVQ/HND/HNC/BTEC, City and Guilds, or equivalent qualifications in an appropriate discipline, together with a minimum of three years' work experience. Certificates must be submitted for your application to be valid. Other significant facts about the role: You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft, and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period. Overtime may be required, and you may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. You may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Shift work may be required. Emergency overtime may be required. The work may require you to operate (with proper training) specialized vehicles, such as motorized maintenance platforms, "High Reaches", or other types of lifts. This position may require you to work under adverse environmental conditions. You will be required to train/guide lower grade (or other trades) military/civilian employees. The Local National Direct Hire (LNDH) Program does not participate in regular drug testing, however positions covered by this document may be subject to drug testing upon reasonable suspicion of substance abuse, and safety mishap or accident testing. All successful applicants will require a security clearance and a right to work in the UK.
