The EMEA Asset Servicing COO Oversight Manager will be responsible for the governance, oversight and adherence to frameworks for EMEA Asset Servicing COO, with specific focus on the requirements of the UK Senior Management Regime (SMR). The main responsibility of the incumbent will be the proactive support of the EMEA Asset Servicing COO SMF 24 (under SMR) in the execution of the oversight responsibilities for Custody Operations in the region, with a particular focus on Risk & Operational Resiliency. They will be involved in all aspects of overseeing the activities of Asset Servicing COO providing services for UK legal entities. This includes the oversight of four Important Business Services - Trade, Payments, Corporate Actions and Proxy Voting, together with the ongoing effectiveness of CHAPS UK Cash direct clearing obligations. This role is a varied role encompassing the ongoing assessment of the end to end operating and resiliency environment, oversight of key initiatives and projects, working with the wider leadership team to identify, communicate and implement business priorities. The incumbent will be expected to contribute to Asset Servicing and EMEA leadership forums and also to act as a delegate for the UK SMF 24 as required. The role will partner and collaborate with 1st Line of Defence and 2nd Line of Defence areas to ensure adherence to operational, regulatory and corporate guidelines, policies and procedures. As such this role will be a Certified Position which will empower the incumbent when acting as a delegate. The successful candidate is likely to be a seasoned multi-disciplinary expert with extensive risk, regulatory, technical, business and / or industry knowledge. Regulated Roles: UK Certified Person under the Senior Managers and Certification Regime The key role and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring that governance structures remain appropriate for the oversight of Custody Operations and the respective SMR obligations for UK legal entities.
  • Ensure that the Senior Management oversight process remains tightly aligned to the established, formal governance processes.
  • As a Certified Person, provide adequate oversight and support to the accountable SMF 24 for Custody Operations
  • Working closely with the Asset Servicing Resiliency Office, oversee and challenge the plans and actions designed to test and improve the Operational Resiliency of applicable Important Business Services.
  • Enhance and maintain the process for ensuring clear evidence of challenge, review and decisions for the key operational functions.
  • Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and actionable reporting to senior leadership and governance committees. Act as official delegate of the SMF 24 at relevant meetings and committees, where appropriate.
  • Oversight of management information and reporting, ensuring relevance to the business environment and governance including changing regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise closely with individuals with similar roles in EMEA to share best practice and maintain consistency.
  • In collaboration with Risk and Compliance, interact and maintain effective relationships with
  • appropriate regulatory bodies, especially the PRA/FCA as required.
  • Maintain a good level of knowledge of risk and regulatory environment applicable to the business, collaborating with Risk and Compliance with a view to ensuring adequate systems and
  • controls are in place such that all relevant functions comply with all legal and statutory requirements applicable.
  • Work closely with senior leadership across the enterprise, in all three lines of defence, to support the continued maturation of the control environment
  • Overseeing and sponsoring (where appropriate) key initiatives including business and regulatory change.
  • Maintain oversight of projects and initiatives relevant to the Important Business Services.
  • Participate in development of strategic plans, goals and priorities based on the direction set for the business.

    Strong understanding of operational resiliency and control frameworks.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Technical knowledge of custody services.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills with proven ability to positively influence all levels of personnel, including senior leadership.
  • Detailed experience in financial services industry, including regulatory experience.
  • Proven success building and implementing control frameworks.
  • Exceptional data visualization skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong collaboration and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks and competing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to change; comfortable dealing with ambiguity and uncertainty.
  • Excellent critical and creative thinking, decision-making and innovative problem-solving skill.
