Full Job Description

We are looking for an Emergency Department Receptionist to join our busy clerical Team.
We would like to hear from people who enjoy interacting with the public and are passionate about delivering customer service to a high standard in a busy and challenging environment. You will have the experience and knowledge to meet the criteria outlined within our personal specification and job description for this role.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will deal with all enquiries from patients, relatives, colleagues and police. The post holder will provide excellent clerical support within the reception and clinical areas of the department., 2) To enter information received into one of the ED computer systems amending
patient's details where appropriate.
3) To deal with relative enquiries, either in person or by telephone.
4) To respond to emergency ambulance arrivals by obtaining information from
patients whilst in cubicles in the Resuscitation and Trauma area and then register
on system.
5) To collect cards after treatment from all areas of the Department.
6) To produce header sheets and prepare ED cards for scanning.
7) To ensure that all GP letters are placed in envelopes and posted daily.
8) To book appointments for patients in the fracture clinic and soft tissue clinic using
the IPM system.
9) Be available to cover annual leave and sickness for all Reception shifts.
To liaise with all medical and professional staff and communicate with patients and relatives
on arrival and after admission.

Confident to deal with the public
- Able to work under pressure
- Able to gain information from patients, often when very distressed
- Competence in the use of keyboard/computer

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Emergency Department is the busiest department in the hospital but we pride ourselves on exceptional team work and the delivery of an outstanding quality of service throughout the whole department.
Post holder will register patients in on arrival using the ED computer system and system
one, this produces the ED card or booking onto the relevant systems. Once treatment
has taken place the post holder will collect and prepare the ED cards for scanning.
To liaise with all medical and professional staff and communicate with patients and relatives
on arrival and after admission.
