Full Job Description

The post holder will be a nursing leader in the Emergency Department, ensuring that quality and safety are delivered within the clinical environment. Strong leadership is expected to ensure that local and national standards are met and maintained. You will work within a senior nursing team and provide support and supervision to Emergency Department staff. To ensure that access to and provision of healthcare services is enhanced by the development of effective recruitment and retention practices., 1. To provide professional leadership through clinical expertise to the department staff.
2. To be the lead on nursing issues relating to Trust and local agendas.
3. When undertaking the generic department role if required to be responsible for the day to day organisation and management of the department, including the supervision of staff and the teaching of students.
4. To continue development of management skills and experience.
5. To promote and facilitate the implementation of the RUH Nursing strategy:

a) Reviewing nursing practice and implementing appropriate changes based on research/best practice;

b) Developing and implementing Audit, Quality and Risk Management initiatives.
