Full Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Emergency Nurse to provide expert clinical and managerial leadership in the Emergency Department as a Band 7 Team leader. You will be expected to work clinically in all areas of the department, including Resus, assessment and as Nurse in Charge, as well as to manage a team of nurses. You will participate in research, audit and service development as part of the senior nursing team in the department.

  • To have overall responsibility for the operational activity on the shift, including proactive management of issues to support performance of the ED 4-hr operational standard.
  • To act as the professional role model, leading and co-ordinating the nursing team.
  • To have shift responsibility for the management and organisation of the ward/department within the available resources.

  • The department sees a wide variety of patients from minor injuries to major traumas.
  • As a team leader you will uphold the trust values while maintaining a high quality, safe emergency nursing care.
  • You will be responsible for the day to day running of the department while showing leadership and clinical expertise.
  • The Trust is one of only four designated Major Trauma Centres in London, with a helipad providing direct access to the ED for the most seriously injured patients.
  • You will be expected to help manage safety and flow in thedepartment and achieve government targets and key performance indicators.
