Full Job Description
As an Emergency Management Officer, you will support senior officers in the County and District Councils on their response to a crisis. You will work directly with emergency services and local authorities, with minimal supervision, so that Surrey responds to a major emergency effectively. An Emergency Management Officer may also be supporting council services business continuity arrangements so that the council can continue to provide its key services in an incident. On occasions the Emergency Management Team must respond immediately during and outside of working hours to the demands of a crisis. As a result, we have an on-call rota that means that for 1 week out of every 6 you will need to be able to respond to emergencies outside working hours and be able to get around the county.
- Direct experience of working with emergency services and local authorities
- A good understanding of the aims and objectives of emergency planning, business continuity and the Joint Emergency Services Interoperability Principles
- A relevant degree or appropriate experience
- The ability to work with a minimum amount of supervision
- Have a good understanding of the aims and objectives of emergency planning
- Have an understanding of business continuity
- Being a collaborative worker, looking for ways to continuously improve with an ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with various stakeholders
This role has a starting salary of £35,730 per annum, based on a 36 hour working week. This is a 12-month fixed term contract opportunity. The team is based in Woodhatch, Reigate with a hybrid approach to work you will be required to come to the office 2 days per week.
